Ahh, another thread among the thousands...will this pass the number of Pennington threads in the next two weeks?
Sorry for not reading every thread in the forum. My unfortunate burden of living a life sometimes gets in the way of this.
Sorry about that Patrolman "Thready". I thought it was enough to differentiate. Didn't mean for you to have to read another related thread. Of course you could have scanned the title and moved to the next one. But I do understand that thread patrol can be taxing and each thread must be opened, read, compared and judged, your honor.
Okay, as I've said before you used to be so rational, and you were a huge supporter of the Favre deal. Out of curiosity, after his performance this year, do you want him back for another?
Anyone that questions my dedication to this team doesn't know me. I have been a fan for 45 years and a season ticket holder for 29 years. I plan my life around Jet games. But the stuff I have been hearing yesterday and this morning are the most disturbing things I have heard about this team in a long time and that is what has led to this thread. There are really three reasons, in my mind, to spend money to watch the Jets play in person. The first is because you want to watch a winning team. While the Jets were a winning team, barely, the way the season ended it does not feel like it. In fact, it was among the worst feelings I have had in 45 years. With Favre back, it will not be any different next year. He is not going to get better at 40 years old. So with Favre at QB, I don't see a championship, or even a playoff appearance next year. Second, you want to watch your team grow and develop and improve with an eye towards a future championship. With Favre at QB, this is out also. It will be another wasted year for the QB position while we are all held hostage to the "streak" and Favre's desire to put himself above the team. Meanwhile, the future of the QB position is left wide open and Clemens, Ratliff, Ainge practice wearing baseball caps and holding clipboards. And it messes up the draft because the Jets don't know if and when to draft a QB. Third, there is the game experience. I love going to games, but this year the experience has stunk. The building of the new stadium, plus Xanadu, has made the tailgating experience awful. I have tailgated with the same group of people for over 20 years. We come from all directions and meet in the same section. This year, however, with the limited parking, certain lots are closed off 3-4 hours before the game. There is no ability to move around the stadium parking lot. As a result, we have been forced into unfamiliar lots on different sides of the stadium or we have had to walk long distances just to meet up. It sucks. When you add all this together, another year with Favre means no winning, no development of a future identity or QB, and another year of crappy stadium experiences. For me, right now, it adds up as not being worth the effort or the money. If Favre is back, I think I will sell my tickets and wait for better things in 2010 in the new stadium and watch the train wreck on TV. Of course, I reserve the right to change my mind.
If he comes back i will stop attending games. I would strongly consider finding a new team to root for also. I was against him coming in the beginning and look at where he took us. Forget about us, himself. 9 INT's in 5 games. GET OUT OF HERE.
If he goes he goes. Even if his name is Brett Favre, it won't be hard to find a guy to improve on what he did this year. We're not Green Bay, we don't have any history, loyalty or emotional baggage with this guy, no problem seeing him go. As Rhodes said--if you're coming back, get with the program and be part of the team.
You will probably change your mind, because after 45 years you will have no other choice. With that being said, everything you post here is accurate. I don't live anywhere near New York anymore, but it will still be a disaster if I have to watch Favre another season.
There is no room left to defend favre, he should have retired last year I dont know one real jet fan( thats not a packer convert) that wants him back. Name one qb over the last 5 weeks that played worse than him...Even Seneca Wallace outplayed him, SENECA WALLACE If he comes back i will find a new team, i cant deal with his throws into triple coverage anymore
Good analysis. The lack of adjustments made by the CS is a recurring theme here, but it seems that when they did make changes to the gameplans, they went away from what was being successful. Really stupid idea.
I agree with you. Put me in the "goodbye" category, when it comes to Favre coming back. I will never abandon my team, but i DO NOT WANT FAVRE BACK!
