How does him running into the locker room after the game mean he does not respect his teamates? The handshake is for the opposing team. I don't understand what the big deal is. Years ago, players didn't want to shoot the shit with the opposing team after the game because it was war. Also, why should he respect Chad?

JWWS I'm with ya. Favre is my least favorite Jet of all time, and that was before he took a snap. The Jets don't need a washed up 40-year old QB and the only reason Woody and Co. would want him would be in a lame attempt to sell tickets.

Favre is the man. Sure, he cost us the season, but he was fun to watch vs. Arizona, New England, and Tennessee. It was good times.

    lets look at some numbers...

    jets 34 pats 31
    brett - 26/33 258 yds 2 tds
    jets rushing - 36 attempts, 130 yds 1 td
    possession 39:18
(also, just my opinion, but no quarterback in recent jets memory is making those final two drives for us)

    jets 34 titans 13
    brett - 25/32 225 yds, 2 td, 1 int
    jets rushing - 38 attempts, 180+ yds, 2 td
    possession 40:30

(for those who dont remember, heres where ny vs ny super bowl talk really got going)

    jets 17 broncos 34
    brett - 23/43 247 yds 1 int
jets rushing - 19 134 yds 2 tds (including 60 yd and 30 yd run tds, great plays, but 40 total rush yards aside from these is not exactly a consistent run game)
    possession: 28:05

    jets 14 sf 24
    brett - 20/31 137 yds 1 int
    jets rushing - 12!!!! attempts 59 yds 2 tds
    possession 20:11

jets 31 bills 27 (a game won on a fumble recovery td because of basically coincidental well timed blitz on a gift play action)
    brett - 17/30 207 yds 1 td 2 int
    jets rushing - 23 attempts 135 yds 2 tds
    possession 24:31

    jets 3 seattle 13
    - we allowed seneca wallace to throw for nearly 80% in the snow and maurice morris to rush for nearly 120 yds behind almost an entirely backup offensive line, how many games do any teams win with those numbers on defense to those types of players?

    the big one
    brett - 20/40 244 yds 1 td 3 int
    jets rushing - 21 attempts 80 yds 1 td
    possession 26:12

when we ran the ball 30+ times, as a team who set out on a season to be a rushing oriented offense should do, we dominated time of possession, put up points, and kept the d on the sideline longer. while this was happening, brett was putting up excellent passing numbers as a complement to the running game. also while this was happening, the media was blowing up a ny vs ny super bowl and many people here acted as if we were about to lock up a bye week in the playoffs.

then, in our 5 game home stretch, we run the ball on average less than 20 times per game. time of possession goes significantly down. and the defense doesnt step up. it actually worsens. the same team that was a top 5 rush defense and top 3 sack leader is giving up 100 yds per game to back up running backs and failing to even hurry, let alone sack, the qb. (jenkins injury more serious than we know? who knows?) in an argument against favre, he does not step up either. when asked to throw 35-40+ times per game, the interceptions start racking up even further. not only that, but a supposed shoulder injury is causing him to uncharacteristically underthrow balls on a regular basis.

my main point is, brett favre did not singlehandedly lose us games this year, including the later part of the season. rush attempts and yards went down far after the tennesee game, and the defense all but collapsed except one shaun ellis td and a few fumble recoveries and the always steady play of revis. these are major coaching mistakes, muchhh larger mistakes than choosing not to kick a field goal or deciding not to go for it on 4th down. brett, as a 40 year old qb, is never going to throw 40 times per game and win games for any team. however, as a complement to a consistent rushing game and defense that can apply pressure(which we did have this year and still have the same players as of now), he is still by far the best current option for the ny jets if he is healthy and if he continues to want to play.

Some of you guys really are from another planet. Of course Favre didn't singlehandedly lose games for the Jets. Football is a team game. But, Favre did nothing all you pro trade guys thought he would do. Hell, for most of the year he wasn't even entertaining. Game plan sucks, injury; how many excuses are you guys going to think up? The fact is he's a 39-year old former very good QB who simply doesn't have it anymore. What is that such a difficult concept for some of you? The Jets bring him back, from a team perspective it's an absolutely terrible move. Woody might make more money, and have to fire another coach, but for the long-term health of this team that would be a shame.

He was not Mr. HOF as a Jet and it does not look like he ever will be, even though they are going to try like hell to bring him back.

The thing that bothers me the most is this organizations allegience to Favre. Favre did nothing to warrent a second chance at the helm. He was our albatross. I will never give up on my Jets, but they need to rid this franchise of Favre. He is done, finished, it's over. Go home, put on your Wranglers, start up your lawn mower, and cruise around your Mississippi compound, and leave us alone!

I agree with you completly but do really think Woody and Tann seriously believe Farve can help sell tickets next year? Are you kidding? Jets fans are the most savvy in the NFL and we all know Farve is done.

You overrate the majority of Jets fans. They aren't all like the people on this board. Most of the people I spoke with at camp this past summer didn't even know who Kerry Rhodes was.

If I was to stop being a Jets fan because we had an old washed up QB, I would have quit being a fan in the 70's.

Old, out of shape, cancer, Farve must go!

I hate Farve. It was a bad idea to bring him here on many levels. Simply put, he is just a bad egg. Major narsasistic self centered prick. Just look at this antics over this years. You can start with his spate of retirement dramas that we will now be unlucky inheritors of. Over the last few seasons he primadona offseason antics have been nothing but manipulation to put himself in the spotlight. The worst of it was last year when he strung Green Bay around and around giving them no choice but to move on. Finally when they do, he thows a wrench in the works by announcing he want to come back. So he gives them no choice but to move on then at his leisure tries to force f#(& GB managment into taking him back. When they don't want him back and offer him big money to just stay in retirement, he does his best to be as spiteful and vindictive as possible by trying to go within the division to their arch rivals. Now, with all the posturing about wanting to come back, he has no other choice but to play. After media reports quoted him as saying he had no interest in coming to NY he somehow changes his mind again to come here and play. He comes here no offseason conditioning, completely out of shape, which was a total disgrace. He gladly took the spotlight and promised nothing (and delivered nothing, prophecy anyone?). He sits in interviews and you don't even need to ask him questions, he asks himself questions through the interview. The ego maniacal prick essentially interviews himself.

Now to the injury. He is claiming that he is banged up, and that my very well be. It could have been the reason that he threw 9 picks vs 2 TDs in the last five games. So if the guy can't make the passes why does he not sit it out? We all know why. His personal record is obviously much more important than the success of this Jets team.

Did anyone see his pep talk before the dolphins game? It went something like this "if we win, ok. if we lose ok too." Are you for real Brett?

Now we are hearing more nonsense about he did not like it when Mangini called him out in practice??? WTF? Awwwwww...poor Brett's mile high ego.

Brett is the high maintance, nightmare, supermodel, grilfriend, "has been". He can take his primadonna, ego maniacal ass and go back to the redneck woods he came from.
