After watching the Okla game right now Beal is the guy I want to target in round one. He is my Kyle Wilson for this year. He's got stud written all over him with Rex being able to coach him.
i was watching some Cameron Hayward footage and #54 john simon kept jumping out at me. he's only a sophomore and has a ways to go but he could be a good prospect.
I'm a fan of Georgia Tech fullback Anthony Allen. I didn't see him get thrown to a lot (obviously), but apparently he does have the ability to catch out of the backfield, and he runs hard and decisively. He's got good size, 6' 229, no injury history, and he had good speed out of the backfield for a bigger guy. He's the fullback in G-Tech's flexbone, so he's a good ballcarrier; has not fumbled once in his collegiate career. The only downside is that he is a redshirt senior. The dude is old. He's not gonna have forever to get his shit together on the professional level. Definitely a later pick, but I think he's worth a shot. I wouldn't pick him over a defensive player able to make an impact, but he's an interesting prospect.
Was watching highlights of BYU last night. What do you guys think about Cody Hoffman?? He caught 3 TD's in the Bowl Game. Pretty big guy (6' 4" 210 lbs.) Anybody know more about him?
In 5 years of college, he still looks like the same Wing-T QB coming out of high school. He has the same problems now as he did then. Good athlete, kinda hard to say much else...
Not having a good game passing but as a playmaker, the kid has been doing things. Kid is tough and has heart...took a rough shot that would take out most QBs but Locker got back up and got back in a drive later. His passing attack has been non-existent in this game but I do think that a bad start just led to Locker and the WSH coaching staff feeling that Nebraska cannot stop Locker when running out of the pocket.
He's made some very good plays as a runner tonight, but I don't care how many plays he makes with his legs. He needs to play running back if that's all he can do. People bashed Tim Tebow his entire career for not being a good passer. Tebow is miles ahead of Locker as a passer and that says a lot.
I lost it when the announcers tried to justify him as a early pick by calling him a game manager, you don't draft "game managers". If they did, Greg McElroy would be a first rounder...
I'm pretty sure he's related to these announcers or something. They've done nothing but talk about how great he is for the entire game.
Locker's WR's are piss poor...Kearse couldn't get off the bump at all and his speed was very meh. Locker seemingly ran more than Martinez... He has the senior bowl and his intangibles will get him drafted 1st round. Give him a year to get all of that crap of an offense Washington put around him out of his system and he should be a good NFL QB.
What intangibles? Kearse was being covered by a corner that will most definitely be a top ten pick, maybe top five. Chris Polk had a dominant performance against a very good defense. With that kind of rushing performance from his RB, Locker had to have had opportunities to pass the ball. Comparing Locker's rushing performance to Martinez's makes no sense at all. He hasn't improved as a passer at all. His athleticism got a lot of people excited. The bottom line is this: he's a great athlete that's a marginal-at-best quarterback. People called Jake Locker the #1 overall pick at the beginning of the college football season. It's clear now that he was vastly overrated. If you want to be top prospect, you better produce against everyone - I don't care about your supporting cast. He's a good runner. That's all we've seen him do. Google's not hard to use... I wouldn't exactly call the monsters. K-State's RB is Daniel Thomas. Thomas is a pretty good prospect. ...probably second round like Toby Gerhart. Syracuse's RB is Delone Carter. Carter's will probably be a mid-rounder.
His helmet was scrunching up his face. He didn't show heart, he's a moron. How did he not figure that out. Every QB gets hit like that once a game, and every running back (which he is) gets hit like that ten times a game. He should have gotten right up. Some intangibles. Chris Polk is an absolute stud, just to kick things off. He's the best RB in the Pac Ten that doesn't have two first names. Kearse is a good receiver, he just got shut down by two really good corners. And really, do we need to hear about Washington's lack of offensive talent AGAIN? That's been the pro-Locker shtick all season long. At some point a good QB can lead his "crap" offense to do something. He certainly couldn't do it as a passer, so he did it as a running back. Mid Round Developmental QB, thy name is Locker.
Steven Friday yoked a very highly thought of tackle when he beat John Martin on that safety for VTech. Martin's probably the top Sophomore tackle in the country.
