Dion Lewis is an incredible talent, last year he was amazing. I believe he hurt the shoulder vs the Canes and it hasn't seemed to improve much. I still have issues with Lewis' ability to be a feature back (even in a 2 back system) in the NFL, his size is a concern. IMO, he'll be a situational 3rd down back and terrific special team player in the NFL. NFL and College football are 2 different animals. Hell, even Pete Carroll mentioned this week Leon is a ST player and will be used on 3rd down plays. Right now, Lewis is a 1st round talent, but 2nd round value due to injury/size concerns. If Lewis was 5'10"/5'11' with 10+ more pounds he would be a top 5 pick. BTW, Lewis isn't a lock to declare, he probably should, to avoid too much wear and tear. Wannstedt is a turd.
I remember similar things being said about LeSean McCoy after his sophomore season. Even he thought he was staying for a third year until Wannstedt had a sit-down with him. If there is one thing that mustached fuck is good for it's getting the players that deserve it into the NFL. Then again...:beer::beer:
The rutgers QB tonight has been pretty impressive. Freshman Chas Dodd making his first career start against Uconn. He has thrown two very pretty deep balls tonight bring Rutgers from behind to take the lead with only 13 seconds to go. I don't claim to be able to project Qb's to the next level, but he looked pretty good to me, especially for a freshman.
yeah that will destroy any hopes, can't even see the top of the OL heads at that height. Why did I think he was 6'1? well whatever, certainly will concede to your knowledge on that fact. Either way, he can be a good qb at the college level at that height.
RU lists him at 6'0, but I've seen the kid in person and he's really short. It'll be interesting to see what Rutgers does with him, they have a lot of their hopes in the hands of Tom Savage, who was a lot better than expected as a freshman but had been less than great this season. Fun fact about Dodd (that they probably said a hundred times during the TV broadcast), he was the quarterback for So. Carolina STUD freshman (and former Mr. South Carolina, 5 star recruit) Marcus Lattimore in high school.
I might be a ND homer when it comes to this but Ian Williams NT for NDs 34 d is really playing well this year. Might be worth a look in rd 4
Ian Williams is a player that I've been paying close attention too this season. He takes on double teams consistently. I'm not trying to take anything away from Manti Te'o because he's a hell of a linebacker, but I think Williams has a lot to do with his success this season. He's doesn't have the size you look for in a professional 34 nose, but if he look at Ryan's scheme, the nose doesn't exactly need to weigh 330 or 340. Kelly Gregg isn't the tallest or the heaviest nose in the league, but he's powerful and gets great leverage. Ian Williams is the same kind of player. I see no reason why Williams can't be a rotational lineman in the scheme that the Jets run.
Niles Paul is a receiver. They just use him all over the field. Roy Helu Jr. is a hell of a receiver out of the backfield and he's actually listed as a running back.
My mistake. They lined him up in the backfield enough to where I thought they were using him like Joe McKnight. Guess the 0 handoffs should have been a clue. Still, fun to watch.
Paul is a good prospect. He's got great size and he's a beast after the catch. He'll be playing on Sundays next year.
mr e this is off topic but where do u see a guy like cam newton going in the draft if he decides to come out? i'm no expert (so please dont rip me a new one) but i think he'd be a good wildcat type qb to bring in, especially in goal line situations.
Yeah that wasn't a good decision at all but outside of that, he has been damn good thus far. Just have to wonder if WSH can pull a few more big plays out of them before Oregon St takes the full swing of things.
