No no no no no no no no. I do not want this headcase on our team. Besides the fact that others have brought up his health (diabetes) is a huge concern for me. Which could have serious effects on his future as a QB. The guy is a fucking whiner and half.
+1 absolutely correct...Denver screwed themselves by letting this situation drag out. I don't think the price will be as steep as people think....unless they create a bidding war.
I liked Cutler and wanted the Jets to draft him, but to act the way he has shows he can't handle some of the baggage that a nfl player is going to have to carry. Being traded is part of the game, to throw a hissy fit because the Broncos entertained the thought of trading him is ridiculous. How is he going to handle the media or fans at games when he has a bad day? What happens when a coach or teammate calls him out on something, stop talking to them? The Jets really don't need a head case at QB. If they could get him for just a first round pick it might be worth the risk, but the price Denver will want will be too much to gamble with, the Jets have alot more needs then just QB. If I were Denver I would ship him to Detroit for everything they can get.
This is what I mean by overpaying. Giving up high draft picks and players like Revis or Harris is too much. And face it, Denver's not stupid. You're not going to pawn off a #2 or #3 player on them. But the major problem is, we'd have to negotiate a 3-way deal and that probably involves paying through the nose twice... once to convince the third party to cough up a starting QB and then paying Denver through the nose for Cutler. Yes, Cutler's an upgrade (I suppose he is... but do we really know how good Clemens or Ratty can be?), but do we really want to decimate our talent AND our draft picks? Tannenbaum is a pretty sharp guy. If we get Cutler, it will have been because the deal was a good one, otherwise, he'll pass. And if we do, who knows? Ratty may emerge from camp looking like the second coming of Tom Brady.
I don't. All the scouts seem to think he will. He did make all pro in his second year as a starter and has thrown for 8000 yards and over 40 TDs in 2 years. The only other QB to do that was Brees and he was 32 at the time, Cutler is 25...jeez....can't people see it?
This Was A Team Decision... What consistently successful magnate that you know likes to cut off his nose to spite his face? Probably not Pat Bowlen. For such a change to occur, there has to be a lot more boiling under the surface of the Denver Broncos than simple irritation at an immature player's temper tantrums. Why did the entire team boycott the media since 19 Mar if there was not some serious arguments going on about Cutler and his loyalty to his team mates? Why does Jay Cutler think it is a good idea to go to a "It's Gotta Be Me or Him!" scenario with his new Head Coach? Jay Cutler has inflicted a lot of damage on Josh McDaniel before a single down was played. Jay Cutler's put the HC on the spot -- he's cost the franchise a major player here, so the HC better win now or else. The stakes are raised on McDaniel by a .500 average QB with a lot of so-called "potential"...who nevertheless is still throwing a lot of INTs for a living. The problem with Cutler's behavior, in my opinion, is his serious lapses in judgment leading to significant damage to the people he works with. The problem with Cutler's passing, in my opinion, is his serious lapses in judgment, chronically leading to too many INTs. The guy's pretty consistent, Mr. Tannenbaum -- stay away from him.
I totally disagree about Denver losing any value by their approach. It is a seller's market since there is a complete shortage of QBs in the league. Sellers can afford to be complete jackasses, but once a bidding war breaks out, it doesn't even matter.
Rex didn't spend his time putting together a formidable D only to let go of true talent. I really don't see this trade having any chance unless it drags out for a few weeks. The closer the draft gets, the more the Cutler stock will drop, then maybe the Jets can be players.
Incorrect sir. They had this on ESPN this morning hes the only under 30 guy to do it true. But there are 5 or 6 QB's in the NFL that have done this. Manning, Brady, Warner, Brees, and I forget who other was besides Cutler. What cant people understand yes he is a good to great football player but would you want to work with someone like him? Someone that whines when things don't go his way. Who throw a hissy fit and refuse to talk things out. Jesus Christ we got enough problems already we dont need to throw this gunpowder into an existing flame.
I blame Mcdaniels for this. I have no issue w/ him trying to improve the team via trade. No one's gonna argue that getting "his guy" from new england in Cassell, and than turning around and trading Cutler for a first rounder would indeed improve the team. But I don't think he did a good job of showing Cutler "love" when the deal fell through. QB's are senstive arrogant people. Cutler was obviously the emotional leader of the team and I get the feeling Mcdaniels may have TOLD Cutler that he was "his guy" but that it was forced and very unconvincing. It def. came across that way in his interview w/ NFL network. This goes back to Mcdaniels' mentor BB. These apprentices of him all know their X's and O's, how to evaluate talent and how to mold a winner..but they all lack people skills. This is just another prime example. If Denver isnt careful this could set them back for a long, long time. They already have gaping holes on D, and when you remove a young franchise QB from the equation to go along w/ a young inexperienced coach, and eek..
OK, I can accept that I wouldn't be disgruntled to see him as our #1 QB, but I would be livid if we traded the farm for the guy. If I were Tanny, I wouldn't say a word and sit back and let the clock tick. Anybody who jumps at Cutler and Denver now will overpay bigtime.
There will be a bidding war and this probably won't get done until the week of the draft unless somebody overbids. What will be interesting is that all the GMs know this so they will all be playing their positions closer than even usual.
Man, I don't want this guy. Here is the nightmare trade scenario that occurred to me in the elevator this morning: Jets send Revis and #17 to Cleveland, Cleveland sends Quinn and #5 to Denver, Jets get Cutler and a second-day pick from Denver. God, I would hate that trade so much.
I agree. Ryan is not going to go for unloading talented players because he knows how hard it is to find them and coach them into what they are. Besides, he just doesn't seem like the kind of coach that puts up with a lot of emotional bullshit from ANYONE on the team. If I'm Ryan, the minute I heard that Cutler is not returning phone calls for 10 days is the minute I decide, "Screw this. I don't want somebody like that on my team, especially in the QB position."
Revis should be untouchable. Franchise level shut down corners come along once every 10 years...Revis is one of them. The only players on D i'd move that have value are Harris and BT.
