I’m talking about Arthur Smith. I don’t believe he will sign here, he will end up in Atlanta or Eagles.
Even though I believe his ideology lines up well with what JD believes in as well, him being in Tennessee for all that time will probably steer him to look for something similar. I would say Chargers if they interviewed him but I believe he will choose Eagles or Atlanta. He just strikes me as that down to earth, humble man who works his butt off but wants to enjoy the peace and quiet after it’s all done.
Could be. I've come across nothing in his background that indicates that though. I guess we'll find out.
I'm sure that he believes he could make Sam better by putting him in a system that's easier, and has simpler/quicker reads, but why would he want to? Why would he want to work with yet another limited QB? This is even more true imo since he probably would have little time to work with Sam one-on-one. Would you risk even one year of your career on Sam, rather than getting a better rookie prospect who doesn't have all the problems that Sam has? I sure wouldn't.
I don't see Eagles at all. It appears that they have a worse GM and their roster may be as bad or worse than the Jets, and they don't have all the draft picks and cap space. I think there's a very good chance that he would become our HC. I think we are one of the top 3 spots for HC candidates. I think Atlanta is probably #4 or #5.
After Saleh left yesterday and the rumor Smith is the top candidate in Atlanta (I know he's having a second interview today) I have a feeling both those guys will go elsewhere and we'll turn out attention to Doug Pederson. Don't know why but I feel he'll be our hire. Not thrilled with him. I like some of the other coaches but could do worse. Lets see how it goes just me feeling this morning.
Sam is pretty equal to the qbs that will be available to us in this years draft, assuming Lawrence goes 1. He wouldn’t be staking his career on fixing Sam, he would take the year, if Sam doesn’t turn it around get a new qb next year and actually buy himself a year of little pressure. the only difference between Sam and the draft class is salary cap implications.
the league's all time high mark of coaches who are poc was eight in 2017 ... thats a quarter of the league so teams would hire a zombie if it gave them the best chance to win, but they will seemingly self-sabotage and hire people "simply because theyre minorities" for the remote chance at an early 4th round pick ... makes total sense
justin fields has a stronger and more accurate arm, is WAY faster, had better production, had a better pedigree, turns the ball over WAY less, and will be cheaper I havent watched wilson yet but he probably tops sam in a number of categories, as well they are not equal
Alright, where are we doing all the updates? Now we got three threads. I had two tabs open for the Saleh thread and this thread trying to keep up... am I adding a third Smith tab?
You could be spot on, Smith and Saleh are the Jets top two choices. However I feel same as you that they will sign elsewhere.
Meh.. can't we ever get nice things??:/ JD and Fields are not enough draw? My Fandom is Swiss Cheese >>>lot of things are missing and the rest stinks
