Saleh probably told Douglas to go all Defense in the draft. Offense can wait. Douglas had him escorted out of the building.
This would signal to me that Brian Daboll is the guy and he obviously won't fly in until the Bills have been eliminated. Or they're waiting to see how his visit goes before they make a decision. The sky isn't falling, guys. There hasn't been one head coach offered a job yet and it seems as though one franchise was already disinterested in Saleh in the Lions..
Or Saleh wanted a different contract than what they offered. I don't think you stay that long without it being about the contract.
Honestly, Chris Johnson needs to be invisible the rest of the way. I know that these candidates need to meet with the owner but it's just going to make him look even more inept. Reported frontrunner meets with him today and leaves with no deal.
Hopefully Buffalo loses this week because waiting until after the AFCCG and potentially the Super Bowl for our guy does not sound too good to me.
It’s not about different, but now he has bargaining leverage with other teams. It is not abnormal to actually discover all your options like a smart businessman. Saleh has a degree in finance so I imagine he’s more savvy than a lot of coaches in that regard.
Man I keep on selling myself on Brandon Staley. Everytime I do more research on him I just keep moving him higher and higher on my list
I don't see any downside to talking in-depth with more people. They are prepared to let Saleh sign with another team.
If most of us had any faith in this org then we'd be with you, but given the decision making for a decade it's hard to trust them, especially when the reporting made it seem like Saleh was the front runner and then met with Johnson today and left.
I respect your opinion as well. I hope you know that. You may be right that there is not systemic oppression of minorities in the NFL, but I doubt it. It hasn't been that long where many owners wouldn't have a black QB or HC or GM because they didn't think they were smart enough to handle it. Think of all the wealthy owners. A lot of those owners made their money on the backs of minorities paying them poor wages, little or no benefits, and probably had few, if any, execs or managers in their companies who were minorities. Even if you're right that there is no racism or oppression in the NFL, there has been and is in the levels below the NFL, which has led to minorities not getting the needed opportunities to develop and grow, so that they are qualified for NFL positions. So unless one thinks that minorities are inherently less intelligent, talented/skilled (I know that you don't think that way), then there must be some reason that they are not qualified yet so many white people are qualified. How is the NBA oppression if black players are better than the whites? It should be based on talent. White players have had opportunities in college and the NBA. There has been no oppression keeping them from having the opportunity to play. With regards to Asians, while this is a gross generality many of them are shorter and of a smaller build. In general, that doesn't lead to a career in the NBA or NFL, but it does in baseball where size isn't as big of an issue.
I'm not worried about Saleh taking the Philly job. If so, it is what it is because I trust Joe Douglas. Philly is in cap hell (51m over), have almost no young talent, and the talent they do have will have to be sacrificed for the sake of getting under the cap.
