Essentially we know we're not getting any of the big name college guys now-- Really hope we're not going to settle for Eric "I don't call plays" Bienemy, Marvin "retread" Lewis, or Average Eberflus
Define pedestrian. Because I’d rather end up with Marvin Lewis and a really solid staff than Eric Bieniemy in general so the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That being said, there are at least 3 options I’d prefer before Lewis.
I'd rather take a shot with Brady over those guys. As much as I'm meh on Daboll I'd go with him over them too
Ugh, Harbaugh and Campbell were my first and second choice. Keep chiseling away I guess, just really hope it's not Bienamy. Word is Watson wanted to play for Eric B, wonder if he would be more likely to come and push for the trade if we hired him.
Don't get the hate for Lewis. They guy made the playoffs a lot in front of Harbaugh's Ravens and Tomlin's Steelers. He is battle tested and would be better than anything we had in a long time. I rather have him than a new flashy Coordinator.
I don't know about others but I don't want him because our options at QB are try to rehabilitate Sam or draft a QB at 2 and Marvin Lewis does not inspire confidence in me in developing a QB. If he brings a good up and coming OC then I could swallow it I guess but otherwise I don't want him.
Who knows now. Loosing out on Harbaugh, Campbell and Mullen from the college ranks is not a good sign... looks like it’s going to be a coordinator.. Arthur Smith, Wink Martindale and Joe Brady take the driver seat
Who are these big name college guys you are referring to?, and have any of them agree to interview with any team? From my view point, neither Brady, nor Saleh, nor Smith nor Daboll nor the DC from the Rams are remotely what you call “pedestrians”
Once the Jets lost out on Lawrence there was zero chance they were getting one of these college guys.
Well he made play offs plenty of times with Andy Dalton. I am sure he will do wonders with a better QB. I am really positive about him,
I guess my biggest issue with him is that he's 62 years old. I'd rather have a young fiery coach with new ideas. Someone who is coaching where football is going... Ugh, had to throw that in there lol but really just want to catch lightning in a bottle and Marvin Lewis is not lightning.
So although I have no idea if Campbell will or won’t take an interview with the Jets, this report isn’t unexpected either way from an IA source, so don’t read too much into it. It’s either factual and is what it is or it’s a planted story from a Campbell source, so as to not scare away recruits. If I was a betting man I’d guess the latter ...
Okay. Full disclosure. Didn't know he was 62. That will make me think twice to be honest. I want someone for the long haul ala Bellichick, Harbaugh or Tomlin,
Maybe Herm taught him something about where football is going this year. Also co-defensive coordinator? I mean herm is just making up positions now. Like when he had the clock guy. Forward thinking!
Marvin Lewis will be to us what Mccarthy is to the Cowboys-- A stale, outdated choice. I suppose if his staff was a team full of all stars I wouldn't be as pessimistic, but you would think we would be able to at least get Campbell or Fitzgerald to sit down for a coffee....this is not a good look. Your telling me if we offered 12 mil a year they wouldn't coach here?
Lewis had decent success for a notoriously cheap team in Cincinnati. He's 62. That should probably be something the Jets seriously consider before they decide to make a multi-year commitment to him. He does have one of the key characteristics the next Jets coach should have: he ran the show in Cincinnati.
