Yes this is why I think it going to be Martindale and it’s a perfect fit. He’s made the Ravens D transition from Lewis/Suggs/Mosley and they have been top 5 since he took over in 2018. Wink will fix the D and hire Anthony Lynn to groom a QB and fix our ground game.

And he’s done it with a mediocre QB. Really hard to imagine attempting to minimize Nagy as just a little apprentice.

I want Daboll so we can have two big bald guys running things. Plus, we take him away from Buffalo so it might affect Allen's future development.

This is so annoying. Is this some continued attempt to demonstrate who is really in charge?

Johnathan Vilma, I like you. You seem to be a good guy and a solid poster here on ganggreen, but it is an excellent example. Nagy was brought in as a brilliant "offensive savant/QB whisperer" who was going to finally pull Chicago into the 21st century offensively by installing the explosive "Andy Reid/KC offense." Instead, during his tenure there, the Bears have fielded one of the NFL's most inept offenses, to the point where Nagy (who was under incessant pressure) finally relented and gave up playcalling...which was SUPPOSEDLY his hallmark and the main reason for his hire to begin with. Secondly, surely you realize that context matters. You cite Nagy's record as a HC in Chicago...his finest season was his first season (12-4 which is the outlier season during his 3 years in Chicago and heavily skews his "career record as a HC)....that first season, Chicago had a dominant Defense lead by Vic Fangio. That defense was the reason why the Bears were 12-4, not Nagy's offense. Nagy himself admitted that he basically let Fangio run the defense as a de facto associate head coach. Once Fangio left after that 2018 season,t he Bears have been the VERY DEFINITION of mediocrity (16-16) due in large part to their pathetic offense, which once again, was Nagy's supposed calling-card and the reason why he was hired as HC to begin with. Finally, regarding them making the playoffs 2 out of 3 years.....since Fangio left town in 2018, Nagy is nothing more than .500 coach, 16-16. yeah, they made the playoffs this year, as a mediocre 8-8 team who only got in as the 7th seed bc the NFL expanded the playoffs to a ridiculous 7 teams in each conference, and they will get their doors blown off in the first round by the Saints.

So a-I can assure you that Bears fans ARE very upset/frustrated/angry with Nagy and were pulling for the 6 game losing streak which Chicago suffered this year to extend to the end of the season to ensure his firing and B-his 29-19 record is not as "impressive" as it seems, for the reasons which I just cited. And before anyone hits me with the "you are what you record says you are...29-19 proves Nagy is a good coach who Bears fans should be happy with, etc. etc."...Barry Switzer won a Super Bowl and complied a 40-24 record as an NFL Head Coach with Dallas, and he is widely regarded by Cowboys fans (and others around the league) as a first rate boob who did nothing more than stand on the sideline while the loaded team that Jimmy Johnson built won games while on autopilot. Context matters.

It’s a formality. Douglas is picking the coach. Thank goodness.

Lynn has connections to the Jets from the Rex days not necessarily from Wink

I get all of that. But results also matter. And he's had a garbage quarterback who struggles throwing the ball in the chunk yardage range and has built an offense that consists of every gimmicky bullshit in the world to try to hide it.

He made a mistake going to Foles. For whatever it's worth, Trubisky is better than Foles and can at least run around like an idiot and make a couple plays here and there.

Nagy oversees the whole operation even if his specialty is as an offensive guy. He gets credit for their team success.

Pep definitely helped Herbert as he has had a decent track record with young QBs like Luck

This seems about right. Owners generally sign off on all decisions, even if they don’t make them. That’s all this sounds like to me.
