By my count there are at least 2 posters who will quit their fanhood over this move. I mean the gall to move down 17 spots in the 4th round!! Fire them All
This GM is clueless. He's trading down for the SAKING of trading down. How do you not get a fifth or at least a two sixths to move down half a round again?
He's hoping to improve his chances of finding Tom Brady 2.0 Next year we might trade all of our 1st-5th round picks for numerous 6th rounders
Nah this is whack... you trade down in the first or second to get second, third, fourth rounders. You should be getting starters every year from rounds 1-3 and half the time from 4. Instead we are stockpiling 6th round lottery picks because fuck it our 2-5th rounders usually bust anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Darryl Slater Jets entered this draft with seven picks. They now have 10. Today, they have one 4, two 5, three 6, one 7. Entering Idzik 12 territory. 1:07PM EDT
Trade downs for inferior value are useless. Again to trade down 15-20 spots you're giving up half a round. A 6th round lottery pick is a pittance to get for that much of a trade down. If they're that down on the fourth round, they might as well trade it for a 3rd next year and be done with it. Do they really think a bunch of guys with 4th-5th round grades are falling to the 6th? They essentially got two 6th rounders to move one pick down an ENTIRE round. That's horrendously bad.
So I am trying to understand this we cant hit on any 2nd round picks regardless of year but we plan on striking pay dirt in the 6th round ?
Exactly. We're trading down to get special team contributors. And if you trade down that far, at least stockpile picks for year's class.
Wtf do we do with Pryor? He couldn't move him for something? Are we really gonna sit Maye behind Pryor?
Tanny'd trade our entire draft to move up (and to be fair more often than not at least it was for a good pick like Revis), this is inverse Tanny.
Exactly..you don't trade out of the 3rd and 4th rounds to go back to 6...the odds of picking starters goes way down..unless this draft just completely sucks.
I agree with previous poster --we moved back 20 freaking spots and got a 6th ? I dont get it,,,Mike Mac was supposed to renew my faith in him with this draft and that aint happening
Not every draft is created equal....its very possible the guys in the sixth have almost as good a chance to be good players as the guys being picked now. No one knows and only time will tell whether it was a good or bad move It's not like every single draft there are 30 guys that are first rounders, 30 guys that are 2nd rounders, etc etc....it's all a gray area and obviously they don't like the value where they are picking It's dumb to just say trade down bad move or trade up good move...its all about the talent pool and day 3 is generally a crap shoot. In general I'd rather take my shot with a bunch of bullets even if its a little later on
Just heard that Jake Butt has an insurance policy that pays him money for every pick after the 3rd round that goes off the board and he hasn't been taken up to $2 million. He's up to $300k.
He's going to be cut. I guess their keeping Sheldon Richardson? I had to be a SOJ fan, but MAC could have traded Richardson to the Cowboys for a 2nd round pick in October(peter King reported this), and he botched that chance for asking for the moon and stars. Now, we'll lose him for a comp pick I guess.
