SU was pathetic Saturday. Virginia kicked their ass. It's a big deal loosing Grant. They will not say anything other than "it hurts him". SU will have to get it together and win the ACC tourney to get a 1 seed.
they may be able to sneak out a 1 if they win the last 2 reg season games then make ACC Tourney final but it will likely take winning it and that won't be easy.
The Heels survived vs. ND. after a big lead at the half ND went on a huge run and took the lead but the Heels made plays down the stretch and pulled it out. Unbelievably on 2 trips to the FT line Paige missed 2 of 4 FTs and kept ND in at w/ a chance to tie at the buzzer but Paige stepped up on D and got a block to end it. On one hand it's a bad sign they squeaked out a close one over an undermanned ND team but on the other they just keep finding ways to win and in this streak they have survived McAdoo scoring 0 at FSU and paige I think had 7 last night. Now they have 4 days off before the rematch in Hansbrough Indoor Stadium where they will hopefully earn their first sweep since 2009.
Done deal, UNLV will play in the Coaches v Cancer tourney in Brooklyn next year. Stanford, Temple and the hated Dookies are in the field. Hoping we get to play the rat faces. Don't know if we'll beat them but I know UNLV fans have been hoping for this game since 1991.
That's my thinking, Parker probably would be gone as he should be a top 3 pick but Hood. K is the king of cons so you never know
Hood is considered a top 10 pick right now. I would not be shocked if both returned as team captains. amazingly enough the Heels can get the 2 seed in the ACC Tourney w/ SU losing again and having a tough game at FSU to close things out, of course the Heels have a tough one too at duke but if they win they could be the 2 seed.
by the way, unless SU wins out I don't think they deserve to be in the East region to get that huge regional advantage at MSG.
some teams just match up better w/ others, it appears Creighton is a bad matchup for 'Nova. on the plus side, I think you guys are a 1 seed if the brackets came out today.
If you would have told me that after the second Creighton loss, I would have called you insane. Then again, you practically called me insane for suggesting UNC was a Sweet 16 team. BTW, while I appreciate all the praise Jay Wright is getting, how come no one is suggesting Roy Williams as coach of the year when he has had without a doubt his best season as a coach?
Roy should be coach of the year for all he has overcome to have his team in position for a top 4 seed(not top 4 overall obviously, probably a 3 or 4 seed) I didn't call you insane and they still may not make the sweet 16 but back then McDonald and Hairston looked like they may not play. My first post was I expected a sweet 16 type of season but that was w/ Hairston. they lost their best player unexpectedly so it has been a great turnaround.
Roy has done a good job but IMO Gregg Marshall should be coach of the year and I don't think Billy Donovan should be ignored either.
both have done great jobs but Wichita State hasn't played or beaten anyone(they are still obviously really good though and it's still very hard to go undefeated) and UF had a key guy suspended doing something worse than Hairston but he was allowed to come back and UF plays in a terrible conference. UF beat FSU by 1 lost to Wisconsin lost to UConn beat KU(also a little overrated) and Memphis the only ranked team they faced in conference is UK and they have been terrible lately. WSU didn't face a single ranked team, the best team they beat was probably Tennessee who isn't very good. both top teams and excellent coaches, both worthy of NCOY awards but they have had some good fortune.
My only consolation was that the game wasn't on TV and wasn't live streaming--blacked out because it was on PPV--so I didn't have to watch it. Turned off the CBS Sporstline updates with about 4 minutes left. We'd be lucky if we get a 4 seed now. _
always nice to see duke lose though they don't lose at home or 2 in a row very often so it makes Sat's game a little harder.
Is anyone else disappointed with the quality of the ACC? This conference has not impressed me this year, very down year. The top dogs have shown they can lose to ANYONE and the bottom half is really terrible. I don't expect much success out of ACC in the tourney. Oklahoma St. is 7th out of 10 in the Big 12.. they'd be in the top 4 if they were ACC.
how many other conferences have 4 teams in the top 14? I think the losses at the top show the depth of the conference. No great teams but not many awful teams either. The conference will always be a little down w/o vintage Carolina and duke teams but UVa stepped up and SU was really good most of the year. Okie State is 7th b/c of the Smart stuff, Oklahoma is 2nd in the Big 12, they'd be 5th or 6th in the ACC. The ACC has probably been the best conference in the Country this year.
