I HATE how the BE was broken up, I hate conference realignment. I LOVED the old BE/ACC arguments. I hate how the ACC was destroyed b/c of football. If I wanted to bash the BE I have plenty of ammo through the years(though not as much lately) but this wasn't meant as a bashing, just trying to figure out the new BE.

I was there and I have to say the Doug McDermott did not impress me. He can score but he pushes the defender almost every play to get open. He uses an arm bar as he is dribbling and it is almost never called. He just does not look like a pro to me. He is slow and methodical in his movements.

By the way congrats ST Johns fans. Great game by the Johnnies they needed that win.

You weren't "discussing sports" and you know it. All's you've done is dodged my original point: that you felt compelled to rain on MBParty's shout out about his team's win over a ranked Creighton team by childishly "one-upping" it with your shilling about a mid-week game that's days down the road and haughtily referring to it as "the greatest rivary in american sports" for good measure -- so cut the bullshit.

And your follow up Big East 'question' only confirmed it.

Other than watching the SU game, Last night was my first SJU game this year I normally make 4 to 5 games and watch more. In both games they played well minus a couple of boneheaded plays.

How did this team loose 9 games already? Is Lavin not as good of a coach as I think?

    http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/chi-depaul-cleveland-melvin-20140210,0,6788279.story

Cleveland Melvin, DePaul's leading scorer this season, is no longer enrolled at the school and is no longer on the team, the school said in a statement.

Melvin, a senior who played in 110 games, was leading the team in scoring with 16.7 points per game but had been suspended for the school's last four games.

Melvin was made available to the media before DePaul's game against Seton Hall on Jan. 25 but did not play in that game, the first of his suspension. Without Melvin in the lineup, DePaul is 0-4.

Is it me or does this seem to be happening more often lately? Grant for ND, Melvin for DePaul are the best players for their teams and are shut down for year.

shut up already, stop whining and pretending like you know what my point was. You can read me the same way you know football. It's embarrassing, just stop it. Grow up.

We've never lost our best player--that would suck--but we did lose Fab Melo on the eve of the NCAA tourney when we were the number 1 seed in the East Region. He wasn't a great player but he really came on as a defensive force with blocks and I've never seen anyone take charges like him. Would he have won us the title that year? Who knows but he would have helped. Losing our starting center to start the tourney just killed me, especially with the high hopes I had.

LOL, spare me internet tiger, me timbers are shaking..

Hardly whining: you were called on your one-upmanship, the same unctuous tact you use in any sanchez-related threads.

I know exactly what your point was and what's more you know it as well. Man up and own it for once.

I can read you the same way I read 24-carat cowchips.

Lastly, playing that stale-as-day-old-bread "I, I, I know football:" card, esp. from some 'stat nerd' (who wore black socks in gym class?) really cuts me to the core....haha. Where's your funk, junc? Where'd you play?

Go ahead junc, the last pejorative salvo's all yours; knock yourself out pal : )

on-topic: Syracuse at Pitt. If Keita's not seriously injured (i.e. MRI-revealing tear, etc.), sit him anyway. Pitt's dinged up as it is and who cares about a #1 ranking in mid-February.

That's what I told my son last night--he says no one is saying anything on campus.

I would not mind a loss now, need to get at least one out of the way.

@ Pitt without Keita would not bum me out one iota.

"stat nerd" do you even read my posts? not only do you not know the sports you talk about you can't read either? You bore me.

On SU-Pitt, I don't think Pitt is very good but there are probably the best team SU will have faced on the road to this point and I expect Pitt to win. I think SU is going to lose 3-4 games over the last month of the season but most importantly they should have the #1 seed in the East wrapped up.

SU keeps it mouth shut on injuries. When AO blew his knew out right before March Madness they said very little about it, like they are saying now. My bet is he will be out for a while. We need him for the tourney.

that was more about seeding, if it got out he was out then they could have dropped a line or 2.

AT the time I thought so too, now I am not so sure. They are close lipped about any injury now. Dajuan Coleman needed surgery and they said he was day to day for like 4 games.

I think maybe 2 losses, their Defense is good enough that teams have to have good games to beat them. The loss of 5 fouls in the middle of the zone will hurt them.

every team hits a rough patch, what will happen is they will lose a few games and everyone will hop off the bandwagon but that will be the best thing for them. Historically Boeheim teams have struggled when expected to win in March, their FFs they were underdogs in each. right now they would have to be considered the favorite so while it sucks to lose any games it will be kind of meaningless. it will take pressure off, you will still get 1 in the East and go through MSG. things can change but that's how I feel today.

We won't be playing in the tournament this year but at least it would appear we will be loaded in 2015 as all indications are that Rashad Vaughn is going to select UNLV in about 15 minutes or so. An Iowa State asst coach has already tweeted out that they tried everything they could and didn't work. Hard to believe that a school that had the #1 pick in this past years NBA Draft could have an even better recruiting class this year despite the fact that we suck. No idea what Rice is telling these kids but it certainly isn't his coaching. Keeping my fingers crossed.....

This should instantly elevate us into a top 10 recruiting class.... 3 top 30 recruits.
