The systematic "easy rides" are pretty much standard. Most schools have an avenue for these kids to get the grades to play. They also have a plan so their academic schedule does not get in the way of the playing schedule. If you think your school is better than everyone else your setting yourself up for disappointment. What has been described in this article is that there was a teacher who was signing off on a class that students did not attend but got grades for. Your school president admitted it happened. Now weather basketball players were involved should be easy to check for the press. So I am sure we'll find out. If they have that class on their transcripts then they cheated too. This article implied that they were.
Keita played out of his mind with 5 blocks and he scored points! He's gotta keep that up. Weird with Ennis, I almost threw up when he tweaked his ankle but he went back in and played the last 5 mins which was basically garbage time. I wonder if that was to keep it from stiffening up? Can't believe how small our bench is, he's been going with an 8 man rotation and that's about it. I'd like to see Gbinijie get some more time at the point these last 10-11 games. _
The fouls for the centers are an issue. Who do we play at center after Christmas and Keita foul out. I guess Grant but that leaves us with Roberson at he 3. JB has not gotten him enough playing time for me to be comfortable with that.
Oh I'm right there with you. Losing Coleman's fouls were huge. But if Ennis is hampered at all or he gets into foul trouble in the tourney, we really don't have a legit point guard to run the show. At least we HAVE two centers  Very very thin bench. _
I think the bench is more young then thin. We have 4 freshman that should be able to contribute in the future. Too bad the freshman center red shirted this year. Point is an issue and will continue to be if we cannot get Ennis to stay another year at least. It's hard to believe we went from loosing MCW (maybe the rookie of the year in the NBA) to a better PG this year. He is not as gifted but he is better at the position. This kid is special. We have one coming in next year but he will need time to develop.
McDonald's AA's announced http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcspo...cdonalds-all-american-game-rosters-announced/
Yeah I can't see him leaving after this year regardless of how well he continues to play. But I agree, he's a better pure point guard than MCW. BTW I met the freshman center, looks like Olajuan. _
I can see him leaving. NBA teams are starving for guards and the kid has been top 3 best PG in the NCAA this year. This is a boom or bust year, the team has to win the tourney, the field is weak and though Cuse has problems scoring, they are strong enough to win it all.
SU's D has caused lower than expected final scores. I read an article about a week ago that SU leads the nation in defensive time. The average time it takes for the opponent to shoot is like 20 seconds. Arizona is second a second or so behind. So it is not just a case of their scoring problems. At times they have had problems scoring but it is not the only reason they are scoring less.
The ACC is not ready for Big East basketball. It may take a year or two to get used to it, but clearly they can't match up with it this year. _
Good to see Seton Hall recruit getting on there. If the new Big East is going to be closer to a high major than mid major, need schools like Seton Hall & Depaul to make the same kind of progress Providence has been making.
yeah, Pitt getting stomped the other day facing the first good team they saw, ND getting smoked every night. The ACC teams are not ready. Just be thankful you came in at the right time w/ Carolina and duke down a little bit. for the first time ever I think I'm rooting for duke tomorrow.
I get it, if UNC or DUKE came into the BE (back in the day) and made us look bad I would feel that way too. SU is by no means dominating these games but the media is building it up like they are. They are just trying to sell papers! By the way, I would still root against G-town at this point it's in my blood.
SU is not making anyone look bad, the conference is down and like you said they aren't blowing teams out(besides Carolina unfortunately). They have played the soft part of their sched. This is their first tough game and it is at home so they should win. The other 2 former BE schools have not fared very well, Pitt has a nice record but the first decent team they played they got smoked at home and ND has been terrible. I don't think I can root for duke but I am surrounded by SU fans/alums(not just on here but at work) and unfortunately Carolina doesn't get a shot at home against them so I want to see them start losing some games.
I just want the ACC to get SU prepared for the NCAA tourney. The big 10 looks tough this year. I think it is good that Feb is going to be tougher, hopefully SU responds and plays better because of it.
I want the ACC back to the old days and SU is going to help. I want real Carolina basketball back, I want it to be so tough next year w/ UNC, duke, SU and UL. I am excited about the future, this year has been a disappointment and a major reason for that has been the Hairston situation. if he's playing Carolina is a top 10 team and the ACC has 3 top 10 caliber teams.
Was just busting Don Quixote's balls. SU isn't dominating anyone but I do like the way they are playing, I just hope Ennis is ok and the centers play smart. My son is so psyched for tomorrow's game- I would think it will be the biggest crowd in Dome (and therefore on campus NCAA) history. Gotta be 36,000 plus I would imagine. And I'm with you on Georgetown. They are in the select category along with the Pats, Yankees and Knicks that I would root for the Iraqi Republican Guard over. That last game at Manely Field House was the sickest feeling I have ever had at a live game, followed slightly by the Yankees beating the Mets at Shea to win the WS. _
Growing up, all I ever heard about was Georgetown and that game. Thompson is a dirty word in my house and for that matter most of Syracuse. I hope your son has a great time at the game.
We sat there in stunned silence. And on the walk back to our dorm all we heard were people screaming from their cars "Marty Headd sucks!" Because he fouled the Hoya with just seconds left to give them free throws and the win. Which was too bad because he was a great player. I had been going to games for 3 years and never saw a loss, it was as if we were invincible in the Zoo. When Thompson uttered his infamous quote "Manley Field House is officially closed" my contempt for the man turned to abject hatred. Yeah, that was bad. _
didn't Georgetown win the last game at the Carrier Dome too? obviously not the last ever but the last BE game.
