So in spite of garbage time we give real credit to Mason for that but still not Fields, correct? And you said I am slanted.
you are definitely slanted, I'm not sure why you are attached so tightly to a throw-a-way QB that's been here a couple months. On that play Taylor made a nice catch, I dont think that's a controversial take
How is this even still a discussion with three games worth of evidence saying one thing and none saying the other?
I was actually hopeful on Fields this offseason. I was never a hater that hangs onto my pre-draft analysis from 5 years ago in spite anyone in my way like some do. But I just have watched the Jets play this season and totally understand now why Fields had 2 other teams give up on him when the Jets social media engine posts his stat line with "QB1 looking good" or whatever its infuriating...
Likewise, I understood why they were going with Fields. He’s not expensive, his contract was set so next season we could keep him cheap if he truly progressed and we can easily move on from him with little cap ramification. You hope that maybe after some time and a new scene the light would go on for him. If not he bridges us towards a much better QB crop than this last draft had to offer. The only alternative was keeping Rodgers but I don’t think Glenn really wanted that and took the opportunity to move on when Rodgers wasn’t clear and decisive on his response when asked if he was ready to play football this season. Whether it’s because Glenn didn’t want to wait or whether he didn’t want him at all, only Glenn really knows.
I actually agree with you, it was a great catch, That throw was not perfect but good enough, it was not a very easy throw to the opposite hash. The defense was just fine too, didn't look soft to me. The point is that just because this play came during garbage time does not mean it should be discounted, which is what people are saying about Fields' stats.
