I don't like callahan. I kinda wish Cam Cameron was still available I liked what he did with the chargers offense when he was with them. He knew how to get use the players he had.

I know you alot of you people would say no to this but how about Charlie Weis? Maybe he was good enough to be a head coach but he was a pretty good OC.

I still wish we had gotten Norm Chow as a QB coach. That guy knows how to help QBs he did it with vince young his first year. Then he left the Titans and Young collapsed. Even Norv Turner would be good as a QB or OC.

Trust me, I don't like the idea of Callahan at OC either. Honestly, I wish we had kept Heimerdinger. He never got a fair shake here, and he has done some impressive things since he went back to Tennessee.

Funny this thread was made this time last year, but you can't tell the difference. Same problems.

at least we know where the problem lies now....last season, the majority of the board was speculating it was Mangini's influence.

What were some of your expectations for this offense this year? I don't think Jets fans would be happy with any OC in here.

I think Schotty will be back next year barring a complete meltdown from the O from here on out.

I may get beat up for this, but I still do not have a problem with Schotty to the point that I would want him out of here. I say, let the man stay and continue to work with the O and get better. Somebody is very likely to pick him up as their head coach eventually so all will take care of itself, but I see no reason to chase him out of here, yet.

If we pass like crazy this weekend and have multiple picks, I will be furious though.

An OC that ran Rex's style of offense.

Pound you in the ass football with no cute gimmicky bullshit. High percentage throws that protected a rookie QB, slowly guiding him into the NFL. That's not what Schotty does.

Look around the league, every offense in the league has "cute gimmicky bullshit" in their playbook these days. I don't agree with the timing of every one of Schottys playcalls but we will never have an OC that pleases the fans 100% of the time. He has done some bad things but he has also done some good things which the fans fail to see. The O is headed in the right direction, no reason to change things, again.

We lead the league in rushing, we have less pass attempts than any team in the league. I'm pretty sure that is exactly what Rex has in mind for a ground and pound offense.

I understand they all do it, but his "time and place" is atrocious, and his red zone playcalling should have Tanny looking at candidates to replace him. He is his own worst enemy. The minute he starts thinking and stops feeling the game, he kills momentum on offense. That's why Rex had to get involved and things have improved.

My sig is exactly what he is though. An overthinker that hurts his offense. He stops doing that, him and Sanchez will be very dangerous. I just don't think he'll ever change.

That would be straight Paul Hackett.

I said on another thread, if he's out at Oakland we should bring him back as QB Coach/asst OC
to mentor Sanchez and help Schotty develop that horizontal/work the flats attack
that the O is currently missing.

Well the problem clearly lied with Mangini's LACK OF influence. The offense had the same problem until Rex stepped in. Granted, the Jets haven't been lighting up the scoreboard but they've been playing a ball control offense and playing the field position game and letting our defense win ball games. IDC if it's ugly it's been working.

I think Schotty is pissed and might bounce at season's end....at least I hope

I still want Shottenheimer to return next year. I think overall he's a good coach. Once Rex told him to stop calling for crazy plays the offense turned a corner, especially Sanchez.

Hell, we won with Kellen Clemens behind center, and we expect it again this week.

I think Schottenheimer is only gone if he leaves on his own. If so, I want Callahan to step in.

So you didn't realize in the OP's post when he said Sutton needs to be replaced by another DC? Atleast we have one coaching spot sorted.
