The story of this year so far is that when the opposing QB screws up the Jets win and when he doesn't they lose. It took very imaginative screwups from Romo (I'll just play catch with Darrelle Revis in crunch time after not looking at him all game) to become the first Cowboys QB in 51 years to lose a 14 point 4th quarter lead. Luke McCown had the worst opposing QB rating for a game in Jet's history. This is likely because he was one of the worst QB's ever to start a game against the Jets. Jason Campbell on the other hand just didn't screw up. So the Raiders won. If that's what it takes to beat the Jets this season then we're probably looking at 4-12. The Jets need to get much better across the board to avoid a lost season at this point. 2005 looked really good until Chad went down and then all the seams burst at once. If Sanchez goes down we're going to lose enough games to make our heads explode by mid-season. Even if he doesn't this team is looking capped at about 6-7 wins right now unless something changes.
Our D is ranked 11th in the league in giving up yards, 21st in points. The 0 is 16th in the league in total yards. For a team built on running the ball and D the OL and D are the problem.
Any team that loses it's franchise QB is in big trouble. So yea, we get that. Three games into the year, the defense is mostly to blame, playing like dogshit. Man it must be awful dark in your house, even when the Jets are 2-1 you are predicting 4-12.
The previous two seasons would have been terrible if Sanchez went down even with his learning curve. I don't think anyone needs to make the point that starting qb's are important for winning games. If you feel like putting a negative spin on the jets wins that is your prerogative but at the end of the day the jets made the plays to win two games out of three. The team played rather poorly in week 3 and was still in the game until late. For all the problems we see the team is still very good and can beat anyone in the league, especially no team has looked particularly great. If you were a fan of the 3-0 bills you would be going on and on about how it took spectacular collapses from two teams for them to win and how they should really be 1-2 but that isn't reality.
I'm only predicting 4-12 if the Jets keep doing what they've been doing so far. Without the breaks the opponents have handed us the Jets are either 1-2 or 0-3 at this point and we'd all be thinking lost season. The NFL gave the Jets a weak early schedule and now we face either strong teams or hot early teams in 5 of the next 6 games. The other game is Monday night against Miami.
The 3-0 Bills haven't made the playoffs in a decade. I'd be taking their early season with a grain of salt if I was a Bills fan. Denver did start 6-0 a couple of years ago on the way to 8-8. That said, the Bills have won a game against the Pats now and that's the biggest hurdle for an AFC East team to get over.
The Bills have pulled 3 games out of their ass this year and have the leagues 26th ranked D. We are 2 and 1 and pulled one game out of are ass. It's early.
Which is the point. This season has been wacky for pretty much every team so far. Maybe things will settle down in the next few weeks.
I totally agree with this. Let's see how the Jets play when the competition gets tougher as it does today. If they step up their play and execute on offense and defense then maybe we're still ok. If they can't compete with the Ravens though then we're in deep trouble. A 10-9 loss like last years wouldn't tell us a lot about the team. Not being able to keep the game close would.
According to TGG, the offense is too predictable, Sanchez is regressing, Greene is suddenly no longer a viable starting back, the wideouts have no chemistry with Sanchez, and the OL sucks. And we still score 25 ppg. Some of you guys must be wrong about something. Edit: the only sure statement out of any of those is that the OL sucks.
Has anyone else caught on to the fact that you disappear from the board for vast stretches when there's nothing to complain about? Of COURSE we're in trouble if we can't even compete with the Ravens. The question is: why in the world do you feel a need to constantly tell everyone all of the situations in which we're doomed? Instead of "we're capitalizing well on turnovers", it's "we score too much off turnovers". Instead of "let's hope we clean up our trench issues so we can get back on track" it's "if we play the way we have, 2-1 easily becomes 4-12.". You even said that if we step up and play well, "then maybe we're still ok". Maybe we're ok if we play well? Maybe? Seriously, it's not the end of the world for you to express positivity, especially if it's just hopefulness rather than optimism. Or maybe it is the end of the world for you. Everything else seems to be.
If you have a point to make, make it. If not we can all do without the smiley you felt the need to post.
Damn, you too? winstonbiggs used to get all lazy on us with "D" and "OL" and "O" too. Maybe it is just me, but it is annoying to read that. Just write out the words. It just reads better.
The only difference between positive Jets fans and negative Jets fans is negative Jets fans are off their meds.
winstonbiggs used to do that all the time too. Never "2-1" like 99% of the football world would write it. No, it has to be "2 and 1."
