I just dont see why someone like Hue Jackson would make a lateral move to a much less talented offense and to a team that could lose its HC if they dont improve next year, assuming Jay Gruden leaves. If Gruden doesnt leave, he probably will the following year which would leave Jackson again in a much better place.
I just like what he did in Oakland in 2010 as the OC: 6th best scoring offense in the league with Campbell and Gradkowski @ QB and Chaz Schillens as his #1 WR. I've read that he has an aggressive - down field passing attack which seems to fall in line with the "attack" mentality Rex wants. Campbell is probably an attainable qb too ...
I just read a report that Angelo, Cohen, and Kahn are the front runners right now. How is that possible, those are literally my three biggest disappointments out of all of them. Fucking crazy of true.
Dream: Gamble/H. Jackson Dream #2: M. Ross/Pep Hamilton Nightmare: Angelo/Mortinweg Nightmare #2: Angelo/Cameron
1st 2 would be awful but Kahn would be pretty good. Not the best choice but he's well regarded. Seriously Angelo fuckin blows...he did a pretty crummy job in Chicago. It was Dick Jauron who found those fixtures in the draft. I will be livid if Angelo is our GM...he's out of touch with the NFL today.
Angelo no, Cohen hell no anyone but him, Kahn f*ck yes. Marty Mornhinweg no, Cam Cameron hell no anyone but him, Pep/Hue f*ck yes.
Would be some sick joke on you guys if Woody really goes with Cohen/Cameron... What the hell is Woody paying that search firm for? Cohen shouldn't even be on the list.
Every scenario is a nightmare with Rex being the true man in charge of this team no matter whose hired.
This won't happen dream- GM Gamble/ OC Weis nightmare- GM Cohen/ OC Sparano(rehired , typical Jets move)
Woody Johnson is a moron. He's basing everything on interviews and not even looking at there resumes......
Angelo did a crummy job? His resume speaks for itself. 1 SB appearance (could have been 2 if Cutler didn't hurt himself), well above .500 record. He would be a fine hire.
I'm not saying his, my only point is that no one likes him because he's in-house. My choice wouldn't be him. Something about Khan I like. Angelo wouldn't be bad either.
Interviews are extremely important in this type of process. With these candidates it's hard to go off solely resumes. Without being behind closed doors & seeing their exact roles in their prior positions, it's hard to know their true achievements & their mistakes. This is the person that's gonna lead the entire organization. You have to know alot about their philosophies, vision for the team & how they'll handle a nasty media market.
Good synopsis on Angelo from Cimini: "No one has more experience than Angelo, 63, who has run 25 drafts in his career. He's the only candidate with previous GM experience. Angelo was out of the NFL last season after getting fired, but he had a long run with the Bears, compiling an 87-73 record in 11 seasons and building the 2006 team that went to the Super Bowl. He probably would've had another Super Bowl appearance if QB Jay Cutler hadn't hurt his knee in the 2010 NFC Championship Game -- a 21-14 loss to the Packers. " http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/
