The fact that it isn't just one mythical location kind of takes the shine off of it, but I'll still check it out.

Yeah... like finding the Lost Temple of Diabetes...

Speaking of which, the chain is probably owned by a pharmaceutical corporation....

I don't think people who cant really afford to eat healthy think this far ahead.

I'm lucky that I can afford fresh food, and my wife is a great cook.

I do indulge in heavy beers and breads though so I'm not as skinny as I used to be.

I love breads. It’s one of my downfalls.

Baked goods are like the opposite of being healthy.

I had a thread about this a gazillion years ago called 'F.A.N. (Fat Ass Nation)'. If someone is eating themselves to death by choice, I don't see why morbidly obese people should be entitled to retrofitted vans and be allowed to get a handicap parking tag. I consider that a form of enablement. Wouldn't it send a better message if they had to work for the spoils of war by having to walk across the parking lot in order to exercise - heh - their right to stuff their shopping cart with Doritos?

It gets me so angry when I see someone with pride and resolve struggling with a walker while some self-causative obese person pulls right up in front of the store because they're "disabled".

Unless you're driving to an obesity doctor, a therapist, and a nutritionist all in one day, this should not be allowed. Everyone's a victim and nobody wants to work for anything.

People don't self-harm only through cutting. I am an empath, believe it or not. There are many multi-level reasons why people abuse food. Control, feelings of worthlessness, a history of sexual abuse to make themselves unattractive, the list goes on and on.

All that being said this country generally veers away from personal responsibility of any kind coupled with, "Is there a pill for that?" Get yourself help. "I can't do this, no-one understands!" Ambivalence and lack of commitment to change is the favored loophole of pussies the world over.

Wanting to change more than you want to continue on the same path is all there is to it. It's not a disease, it's not some unfathomable mystery. It's all about choice and learned behavior. Find your strength and get revenge on your misery if you hate your life so much. Become your own advocate. Draw lines in the sand with others and most importantly, your saboteurs. Don't beg people to love you. You're worth a lot more than that.

For very personal reasons I have no patience for victimhood.

I only eat bread, I'm not into sweets so I don't eat pastries... So I guess it could be worse, but yes bread is not the answer to healthy eating.

They need to make those stupid handiscooters at the grocery store with a real weight limit. I am getting sick of having to dodge around fat fucks poorly driving those things. There was a fat fuck lady one time who was so big she could barely turn the handlebars.

Oh wait is this an insensitive post? I'm sure the douche patrol will be all over it.

Shoprite this week has boneless chicken breasts at $1.99 a pound and broccoli crowns at 99 cents. Potatoes are about a buck fifty, rice is even cheaper. Prep time under a half hour. That means you can feed a family for about a dollar a head for fresh nutritious food. What pre-packaged processed food is cheaper?

Effort is definitely part of the equation too. It takes time to make healthy meals. But once you get into the grove of what to buy and how to go about it , it becomes habit

20 - 30 minutes at the stove instead of at TGG is not a terrible thing to waste. Put on sports center and listen to them stir the pot while you stir your own.

That whole screed was in F.A.N. That, and people using shopping carts as WALKERS. Going to the supermarket and breaking a sweat walking around leaning on those things, it's a smokescreen. Look at what's in the cart other than toilet paper and milk. It's a cart full of heart attack. o_O

That is good... broccolli down here are usually 2.99 a crown. potatoes are usually cheap though. When chicken is priced like that (rarely) I buy a bunch for the freezer

I don't see what is so hard about this. If you can read past the 5th grade level, you can make yourself something semi-healthy to eat. Kids search for porn they can for search chicken soup recipes. It's just lazy.

The food thing is in the same strata as kids who sit through sex education and somehow find it impossible to put it together that penis + vagina = pregnancy.

I'm the result of a teenage pregnancy (drug stores wouldn't sell minors bc back then), but the same mistake wasn't made 20 times over after that let alone at all. I mean, c'mon, now, there is just no excuse for that shit, ESPECIALLY ADULTS.

Speaking of which, bc can fail. It legitimately happens all the time; but if you beg out of birth control altogether particularly in tenuous circumstances you're just a brain dead asshole and a leech on society.

ETA: A co-worker of mine some years ago, her son, who was 17 at the time, very bright, found himself in a bad situation. He got his gf got pregnant. They all got together as a family, both sides. She wasn't "forced" to into an abortion. It was a sad, pyrrhic choice, an emotional family decision. She went ahead with it.

Well, about 10 months later, her son's gf was pregnant AGAIN. My co-worker was beside herself. "Abortion is not a birth control method. I'm not doing this again. You're on your own." His gf had the baby, they've been married for a good 10 years now. It worked out "OK", but those 2 kids, who aren't kids anymore, are behind the 8 ball for life.

Once is an accident. Twice you're an idiot. Three times or more there are no words. If anyone thinks that this is restricted to poverty they're wrong. Poor doesn't mean dumb and rich doesn't mean smart.

1.99 a pound for chicken, that's just not true but I will not play the game I see too many posters fall into.

How many members of my family can I feed with the dollar fifty potato?

You're numbers are not even close in my neck of the woods, but again I'm not falling into this trap. I'll just say you're mostly wrong in this post and any study you can Google will basically tell you so.
