Wow, we completely disagree on this one. First, I don't like the excuse you made right away for why the line looked better. Basically, no credit to the players for giving Zach BYU pockets all game, but somehow weather made the line better. I disagree with that. To me the line looked better because we removed huge liability in Duane Brown, who is no longer NFL quality player, not even a back-up. One weak link can destroy the entire line. We have seen this in 2021 with the line drastically improving after GVR was benched for LDT. In fact the line surpassed my own expectations. AVT at RT looked really good. I didn't expect that after seeing some struggles at guard. Tipp didn't look good at Guard in preseason, but player really well yesterday. It appears he got a lot more practice at the position. He did fall back on that one play where they called a penalty, but overall looked good. Even then that penalty was questionable. Certainly nowhere near a liability but played really well. Becton was solid, and even Laken didn't look terrible. I was complaining about the line all this time, but we have to objective. Yesterday they did well. Unfortunately the QB lost us the game.
They would if the QB were able to hit wide open receivers from BYU pocket and defense had to account for him. OLine was fine. And this is coming from probably its harshest critic. Dumping a liability in Duane did wonders. Well at least yesterday. Imagine if we never started this guy to begin with.
Let’s be clear This is on Zach NOT the OL While not a top 5 OL, they were certainly good enough to win yesterday if we had a halfway decent QB Zach just bailed into rushers, turned the wrong way, called audibles to the wrong side of the line…come on now…that line with a decent QB would have been about average…there were plenty of plays where Zach had time…we can’t see on the TV screen if guys were open or not but I’ve seen enough between what Romo showed in replays and on some of these All 22 posts on twitter to know that it’s not the OL, its not the WRs, and it’s not the OC. Our QB can’t see the fucking field, so defenses can stack the line. Open up the passing game with a real QB and even Dalvin Cook, who looks old and slow, would be making some yards
3 joe douglas first-2nd round picks and 2 douglas big signings on that line yesterday. Idc who was QBing, they should be opening some holes
you cut the field and scheme around it, that's what Hackett gets all that money for. the Jets aren't the first or the last team to face 9 -man boxes. Hell Rex Ryan Jets teams faced it every single week and nearly one a SB the O-line and the OC are also performing poorly
That Rex Ryan line had 2, maybe 3 HOFs on it. Come on. Hackett isn't the reason we lost yesterday, far from.
So far that is incorrect, nobody is in the HOF that Rex Ryan coached on the Jets offensive line. I am not sure Mangold or D-Brick will ever get in, but who the 3rd? Damien Woody? he doesnt stand a chance in hell irregardless, I've been on Zach Wilson just as much as anyone, but if we think he's the only problem we are so wrong. There are no holes for the running backs and the playcalling and scheme is so predictable. The offensive line has sucked and Hackett has really sucked
I'm sure you've seen my posts today trashing zach. The kid stinks. I also don't think zach wilson is the only problem, but the amount of blame for Hackett really needs to be dialed down a little bit. he was not the main issue yesterday.
Put Zach on almost every team, and they would look bad. It's hard to execute your responsibilities while carrying around a ball and chain on your ankle.
