That was one awesome moon shot by Cano...He has one of the best swings in the game, right there with Hanley
I gotta say, I'm impressed how good Tampa is... thank God we don't have to play them in a short playoff series
Frustrating game today, James Shields was unhittable. On the plus side, Papelbon blew another save in Boston.
The game isn't over yet... You wrote this 20 minutes ago in the past tense, meaning it was like the top of the 7th... you're writing off this off a little early no? Paplebon continues to prove he is not only is he one of the most overrated closers in the bigs, he's one of the worst.
I wrote it after Shields left, which is why I used the past tense. And even if the Yankees put up 3 in the 9th, it will still have been frustrating. To be fair, he made a diving stab to save two runs earlier.
At the end of the day, Tex can't play every single game in the field. So it's a choice between Berkman at first, or Swisher at first with Kearns in right. If there's a righty on the mound, I'll take Berkman and his "30 lbs. of shit" (as you so...oddly put it) over Kearns any day of the week. Dropping 2/3 in Tampa isn't the end of the world.
I kind of wish Don wasn't banned so we could hear how these past two games "prove" that Berkman and Kearns suck and are absolutely worthless (and that Cashman is a fool, of course).
Berkman was funny at first With the half assed lineup out there, it was hard to take the game seriously.
The Yankees are in a 37 game in 38 day stretch, guys have to rest some time. May as well give a few guys a day game on turf off directly following a night game. Besides, only Gardner and A-Rod were resting. That's no more "half assed" than all the games where we had to watch Ramiro Pena, Frankie Cervelli, and Colin Curtis at the same time.
The reasons you listed for resting guys are obvious. The Yankees didn't treat this game as a must win so it was hard to get into. That's what i meant.
Oh, I see. I thought you were parroting the arguments of Wallace Matthews and others who are actually criticizing Girardi for resting A-Rod and Gardner, as though this was game 7 of the World Series. I'm not sure that the Yankees were half assing it. I think they just ran into a locked in pitcher, and good pitching pretty much always wins.
