You haven't been reading your own posts?

It's called a joke. Given the fact that Nigeria is home to the highest amount of attempted fraud on the planet, I wouldn't even call it an inappropriate one.

Come on I'm sure you can find something worse then this. It was an obvious play on those email scams we all have gotten from some prince in Nigeria that needs a place to store his 10 million dollars and all he needs is your bank account number.

We could field the great white safety combo. People on this board would be thrilled. The only trouble is, Zbikowski could still be an RFA after the season depending on the new CBA.

Do you think the Pats lose both Page and McGowan? Between the two, McGowan seems like the more likely departure, but I don't know that I like him as much.

McGowan has more starting experience. He's also a beast on special teams, so that's probably where he'd make the most impact.

In my opinion, he'd be an upgrade over Eric Smith.

If Josh Barrett pans out for NE, they could get rid of both.

I truly and humbly apologize for not meeting your lofty standards of humor. I will try to stick in a few more dick and fart jokes in an attempt to make up for it.

Do you know specifics on his injury? I don't think I ever heard anything other than IR - Chest.

I have a feeling Zbikowski will be a jet next season.

This loss sucks but it's kind of exciting to see what kind of wizardry Tannenbaum concots with the roster and salaries. What he and Rex have put together in a few years is great. Given the amount of free agents on the team right now, the roster will be overhauled. Keep the guys that play like a jet, cut losses with the others.

He's got a messed up shoulder.

The only reason he fell to the 7th round a few years ago is because of that injury.

It could very well be career threatening, especially for a hard hitting safety.

If that happens, I'll buy his jersey ASAP.

Look man..I don't want to get into any beef with anyone here. I don't pretend to be an expert in all things Jets, but I thought the whole point of any forum is express and exchange ideas.

However it has to be recognized that not every comment regarding one's ethnicity or nationality is funny. As an African American I didn't think it was funny.

I think we need to set the terms first and foremost. I say this because, even in 3-4 schemes, personnel requirements (especially at DE) are significant.

I am saying this since I was getting thoroughly confused by what Rex was doing: is he trying to set up more conservative read-and-react 3-4 or more aggressive 3-4? In the starting part of the season I had no doubt Rex was trying to be aggressive. Now? I have no idea.

Obviously in either case we need big massive DEs (around 300 lbs or so) - that's not much of a difference. Now the difference comes in the mentality and different skill set. In read-and-react (that is, in Bullough-Fairbanks system. This was the choice of Parcells) 3-4, the DEs must be able to contain the integrity on both gaps (B and C) while not compromising the containment of the QB. Same goes for NT - he's responsible for both A gaps, and he must press forward to collapse the pocket so QB cannot step up. I saw some of this (though highly ineffective) in DeVito's game. DeVito was constantly lined up at 5 tech, going hard at the LT when he was lined up at DE spot. Was he successful? I don't think so. He constantly lost out on the control of B gap. In that case, DeVito becomes a 3-4 End that plays like an ineffective 4-3 end; a DL that gets absorbed by a single OL; sadly enough, he is not even able to shed the block.

I was confused with the deployment of read-and-react tactic, since Jets ILBs are not big and strong enough to go against guards and shed tackle. If they were any good at these, Mendenhall wouldn't have the kind of gains in the first half drives. Thus, the personnel set up basically dictates we must go with one-gap 3-4 system, but then Rex was tinkering with the other ineffective stuff. Will he take his defense to that direction? I cannot tell. What I can say is this: if Jets do go the way of B-F 3-4 system, we must have a complete overhaul of the entire front 7. Jets ILBs are way undersized for that kind of tasks. (And... Harris is not even that good in coverage either.)

    2. If we do go to the one-gap 3-4 system, then to me it would make a lot more sense - but in this case, we don't need to draft a DE early. Simply put, you don't put a horse to do a donkey's work. Unless there comes a point where double-team absorbing 3-4 becomes the kind of hot commodity as fearsome 4-3 Ends or pass rushers, they will be the bottom-rung unsung heroes. OLB must come first and foremost in that case.

All depends on that CBA. We can't afford to give up our 3rd for him if he stays a RFA under the new CBA and gets tendered at original value. The nice part is, the uncertainty may keep them from resigning Landry in the meantime. If they DID resign him, they'd have to be willing to commit money to Zbikowski or keep his tender low. I don't know if they gamble like that with their money needs.
