Meh....if Santonio was even half a man he'd have had his bum foot lobed off and replaced with a blade....

This is great news for not only our offense and team in general, but also for whichever quarterback gets the nod (start) under center. At the age of only 29 if Santonio Holmes returns focused on football, then we're on the verge of returning one hell of a wide receiver. A true number one wide receiver? No. Especially coming off injury. But he'll create for a very strong number two WR opposite of Stephen Hill. And before anyone acts as if Holmes is 'injury prone' please understand that heading into last season Holmes only missed 4 career NFL games due to injury when compared to 95 games played throughout his first 6 NFL seasons of play.

We all love Kerley (up and coming), Edwards and Winslow Jr. but when comparing Holmes career numbers and production to the likes of Kerley, Edwards and Winslow Jr., we see how successful Holmes has truthfully been throughout his NFL career.

Holmes has averaged 3.89 receptions for 59.8 receiving yards per game throughout his NFL career along with 38.71 first down receptions and 5.0 receiving TD's per season.

Edwards has averaged 3.20 receptions for 49.3 receiving yards per game throughout his NFL career along with 32.1 first down receptions and 5.0 receiving TD's per season.

Kerley has averaged 2.83 receptions for 38.0 receiving yards per game throughout his NFL career along with 25.0 first down receptions and 1.5 receiving TD's per season.

Winslow has averaged 4.70 receptions and 52.1 receiving yards per game throughout his NFL career along with 31.25 first down receptions and 2.87 receiving TD's per season.

So as you can see out of Holmes, Edwards, Kerley and Winslow Jr., Santonio Holmes has been the most productive pass catching option of them all despite what the critics of Holmes may or may not state.

When going three wide with Hill on the outside and Kerley working the slots, Santonio Holmes will be our WR opposite of Holmes. Now when going 4 wide we'll have Hill and Edwards on the outside due to their overall size along with both of Kerley and Holmes coming out of the slot(s). And when fully healthy while going five wide during passing situations our QB's in either of Geno or Sanchez will have a boat load of productive pass catching options/weapons in Hill, Edwards, Kerley, Holmes and Winslow Jr.

    Stephen Hill.
    Santonio Holmes.
    Jeremy Kerley.
    Braylon Edwards.
    Kellen Winslow Jr.
    Jeff Cumberland.

With a backfield of Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Mike Goodson and Joe McKnight (returned to full practice on Tuesday) and our offense under Marty Mornhinweg has not only the talent and potential but also the ability to become a dynamic offense. Yes it all starts up front with the offensive line along with the quarterback having to execute but I'm really looking forward to our offense this up coming season. Holmes returning (potentially) strong could become big time news for our entire offense.

You're spot on about that. He gave no indication he was ready to play until the last moment he'd be eligible for the opening of the regular season.

Eh, Rose wasn't playing for a contract, has a city that loves him, and has an MVP that is slightly questionable, but an MVP nonetheless.

Tone might be the complete opposite, especially with some of antics that antagonize this fanbase, as seen below.

I think Tone is definitely going to comeback this year if he doesn't suffer any setbacks. I'm not too sure about week 1, but I think first quarter of the season so the 1st 4 games of the season he will be playing for the Jets.

Yeah totally. Holmes and Coples must be just ducking training camp eh? Lazy bastids!

Anyone who's not hyped about this can go jump off a cliff. He's our best WR, best offensive play maker, and he matters. The result can only be good for the team when he returns. Plus we need someone to keep Revis busy in week one

Spadola and Rodgers have looked decent, but they have been mostly playing against 2nd & 3rd stringers. It's easy to fall in love with young receivers in training camp. It seems to happen every year. People loved Jordan White last year, and he did get signed by another team, but did absolutely nothing. I don't think he even played in a regular season game.

How does showmanship after a 1st down antagonize the fan base? That only angers the simple minded ones and tons of WRs do similar things.

This is good news for everybody but the darksiders who actively root for the Jets to lose. Hopefully Holmes is ready to play WK1 and hopefully he is able to return to MVP form.

This is great news. He is by far our best receiver and probably most explosive offensive weapon. A receiving core that features Holmes as the 1, Hill as the 2 with Kelrey in the slot all of a sudden doesn't look all that bad. There are definitely worse groups then that in the league.

Throw in either 2 or possibly 3 of Edwards, Gates, Mass, Spadola, and Rodgers. Doesn't sound all that bad to me.

You know..that list of potential receivers just need a qb to get them the ball. As much as it looks so damn negative for this season, if the defense can be top 10 and 80% of the receivers and running backs have "good" years, this is the setup for a surprise season.

Just got that vibe. Some how get to 500 after week 8 and you never know. Getting to .500 will be very very tough though. If some how that happens, this could be a surprise season (playoffs).

Holmes will be bringing his A+ game while he auditions for another contract. No matter who's quarterbacking, Jets will have a legit #1 WR this season.

Apples to oranges to grapes to pears tbh. Holmes' first four seasons, he had Big Ben throwing to him. Edwards was in Cleveland, one of the worst teams in the NFL, for 4.25 seasons. Kerley has been having lolSanchez throw to him. And Winslow was on Cleveland for four years before going to Tampa who also hasn't had the greatest QB. Holmes stats are inflated for his time in Pittsburgh.

Not a fan of 'ol 'tone time. I think he hurts the huddle and the offense more than he helps. I think his contract is a focal reason why we are in cap hell; highly overpaid, #2 quality receiver. One, 100 yard game in three seasons= garbage man. I think Kerley is better production receiver and all around better player.

Go score some touchdowns though

Unless Holmes returns to 2010 form this year, he has been a complete waste of cap space.
