Still in disbelief.

100% underdogs despite home ice; big uphill battle to climb vs the b2b Stanley Cup champions, but the boys can get it done. +150 for Rangers series winners

 

Two plays that will go unnoticed and won’t get any praise but probably changed the entire series

1) Troubas hit on Domi which led to a PP because of retaliation
2) Troubas hit last night which led to a PP for to many men on the ice

Both smalls things that changed those games.

The announcers talked about number 2 all night. Every article about the game does, too.

 

Trouba made 2 defensive plays in the first that stopped what were Carolina’s best chances early.

He bodied someone out of the low slot/crease to prevent a pass from connecting, and he used his body to slide and block another pass to the same spot. He doesn’t do that, the Rangers are looking at a 2-1, potentially 2-2 game after 1.

 

Maybe unnoticed was the wrong word choice. People will obviously talk about the one last night because it was less than 12 hours ago but the one on Domi hasn’t even been mentioned in days.

 

8 down, 8 more to go.

 

I watched the games intensely. It was great. I will say they played their best game in playoffs last night, 22 block shots, they committed their bodies . TB are rested and will be ready, and Rangers won’t have any rest. Hopefully the momentum will carry them!

 

Great series, finally put it all together last night.

Hopefully TB is a bit rusty.

I’ve been critical of Trouba’s dumb penalties, but that bodyslide was textbook defense.

 

And they only get harder....

 

The perception here is wrong. Rangers are on home ice. They beat the Lightning this year. They are the team on the move right now having just finished a series compared to the Lightning having sat for a week. They are the team that you cannot kill this year even if you get off to a lead in the series.

I think Rangers win this one in 5.

 

I wasn't giving a perception, I was giving the actual series line Vegas put out. The Tampa Bay Lightning are -175 to win the series and are road favorites tomorrow night. There's something special about this Ranger team though, they just don't quit and find way to win, so who the fuck knows.

This series will go 7, imo.

 

This might be the one series where the Rangers don't have the better goalie. Vasilevskiy is a major step up from what the Rangers have faced so far. I wonder who has the advantage for game 1. Tampa coming off 9 days rest. They could be rusty. The Rangers have a quick turnaround from game 7 to game 1. Fatigue could play a factor here. Should be an exciting series. Same for the WCF as well.

 

I think Igor and Vasilevskiy are 1a/1b. Igor's puck ability sets him apart from Vasey, but I do think Vasey is slightly better between the pipes.

No Brayden Point is big.

 

Igor gets himself in trouble when he wanders too much. He reminds me of Vanbiesbrouck in that regard. Almost cocky with the puck outside the crease but occasionally in real trouble as a result.

I will never count this team out...the last 2 series show you this team is on the brink....
BUT.
TBL is a different beast in the playoffs, the reg season means squat but something tells me this team knows that.

 

What's weird is that I literally called him a mix between the Beezer and MR. and that was one of the reasons....
