Because Reaves is a shit skater and the Rangers needed cap space.

They’re going to roll out Jake Leschyshyn as the 4C and have Goodrow or Vesey play RW.

I hate using the phrase “X player can slide up and down the lineup”. All that means is the guy is a bottom6 player.

Rangers defense can be abysmal at times.

Excellent west coast trip last week.

Also Mottes back. Traded for Gauthier.

    7 out of 8 points.

Rangers chances at catching the 'Canes are still slim but they do have 2 games left.

With the way the playoffs are set up, would there be an advantage to being the #2?

The #2 seed gets the winner of the #1 vs the #8 in the second round. I'm not sure a second round matchup with the Bruins is an advantage.[IMG]

Winner of 2 vs 3 in the Metro would play the winner of 1st in Metro and the WC team.

    It's not a straight 1 through 8 bracket.

So as it stands right now

    Rangers vs Devils
    Capitals vs Carolina

Winners of both series play each other. As long as the Rangers aren't a wild card team, they won't see Boston until the ECF.

If the Rangers catch the 'Canes for 1st place it means one of Carolina and NJ would get knocked out before we have to see them.

Rangers would play the Caps or Pens in the 1st round depending on who the #7 seed was. Bruins are going to get the #8 seed unless something really strange happens.

Is the chart I posted incorrect? Would they not see the Bruins in the second round?

The Rangers cannot see the Bruins until the Eastern Conference Finals, unless the Rangers fall to the 2nd wild card, which isn’t going to happen.

Metro 1st vs Wild Card 1
    Metro 2nd vs Metro 3rd

Winners of those matchups play each other. The playoffs are structured by division.

I keep googling it and I keep coming up with the same scenario. There was an article about how the NHL playoffs are fucked because the best teams face each other early. Here is a other bracket I found for last year. The 1 played the 3 but could have played the 2 had they won. They teams do NOT reseed after each round.[IMG]

We’re going to have to go through the metro winner side of the bracket and we’ll face whoever comes out of the Atlantic side of the bracket.

1st Place Metro vs Wild Card 1 or 2 (Depends who has better record between Metro and Atlantic Division winners)
2nd Place Metro vs 3rd Place Metro
    ---------------------------------
Winner of these two matchups play in 2nd round

1st Place Atlantic vs Wild Card 1 or 2 (Same as above)
2nd Place Atlantic vs 3rd Place Atlantic
    ---------------------------------
Winner of these two matchups play in 2nd round

    Hopefully this little guide helps.

Gotta tip the cap to Hellebuyck.

Expected goals were 5.52 to 3.13.

The Rangers had 4 more high danger scoring chances and 8 more mid danger scoring chances than the Jets.

    Rangers are just atrociously soft.
