I thought Hayes goal was filthy. Then Vesey just flies from nowhere and makes that God awful angled shot?
Hayes goal WAS filthy. Makes you wonder if brother Jimmy wasn't adopted. Vesey knew what he was doing with that move at that angle. This game is an example of why I think Columbus won't be able to make a deep run just yet. It's gonna come down to Pitt Wash and NY
The hell with the standings, and possible playoff match-ups. Right now, all I want is for this team to win games. Period. Come back to me in a month to start worrying about playoff match-ups.
Hayes has really taken a step forward this season, no doubt our best line, night in and night out, KH- JT- Grabs....Raanta was good last night and hopefully Vesey heats up now, quietly Nash has been very good
REAL NY RANGERS FANS @RNYRF 13h13 hours ago #NYR @KevinPHayes12 leads the NHL in shorthanded assists (five) and shorthanded points (six) this season.
RNYRF · NYR QUICK STATS: - Rangers 37 wins in 2016-17 are tied for the second-most the team has earned through the first 56 games of 1 season in franchise history.
Yeah, Vesey getting a second wind would be good. Nash was a beast before he got hurt so it looks like he's getting back in stride. At times I get down on Staal, but last night around the goal in front of Raanta at the end he was stout as hell and really helped ice that game. Good win.
The Rangers have posted a 26-2-0 record in games which Hayes has recorded a point this season, including a 13-0-0 record in games which he has tallied a goal in 2016-17.
Grabner's an interesting case. While guys with goal/ASSIST ratios have good +/- numbers such as Hayes' rock solid (18/27, +23) and J.T. (18/28, +20), Grabner's the exception with 26/10 and yet has a +28 rating. I know a lot has to do with him bring sprung on head man passes and using his speed and all but still it is interesting. Other goal heavy-to-assist guys besides Grabner are Vesey (13/8, -8) and Nash (16/11, 0). Nick Holder with a solid +20 rating (8/18) and Jesper Fast a quiet contributor at +10 (4/13).
Even as a NYR fan, good to see Tavaras finally rewarded with competent line mates. . First time seeing a hockey game at Barclay's Center - what's with the pickup truck? Brady Sjkei with a nice headman pass to Zucc who hits Holden near the Honda pickup truck; 1-0 NYR. . Tavaras holding the puck in the corner next to the Honda pickup truck hits Bailey who feeds Lee on the weakside (Rangers falling asleep at the wheel); 1-1. . Mark Staal all alone, just him, the puck, and a silver Honda Ridgeline pickup truck has Ryan McDonagh to his left but feebly gives up the puck; 2-1 NYI. . Back-breaker: Rangers with the man advantage totally get their signals crossed and inexcusably leave Kulemin all alone; 3-1; NYI. . Moments later back down in the Honda Ridgeline pickup truck end of the ice Vesey slides a rebound to close to 3-2 while Johnny Boychuck crosschecks Nash who looks at the ref like 'wtf'? . Faceoffs: NYI 60%, NYR 40%.
