missed penalty or not, the rangers mustered 4 shots on goal in the 3rd period, weak ones too by the way, and 17 for the whole game. they got bottled up and stifled by the much hated pens. its really that simple. they got beaten.
That third period absolutely disgusted me. There is no excuse whatsoever for a professional hockey team to get 4 shots on goal in the third period of a playoff game. Think about it: Even a team who took TWO five-minute major penalties in a period should be able to muster eight shots for the period. What is really frustrating is how many times have we seen this? How many times have we seen teams flood the neutral zone and block point shots in playoff games against the Rangers. After all this playoff experience, shouldn't AV not only expect this, but have a plan to beat it?
