Don't know what will happen in the playoffs but if I was an Isles fan I would say this season is a huge positive already
The Islanders are a lot like the Mets in the fact that they are just as concerned with their local neighbor as they are with their own success.
Is this supposed to be a sarcastic remark regarding their fan base? Seriously I'm a mets fan and I can honestly tell you, I don't care what the Yankees or any other team in baseball does. When it comes to hockey on the other hand, I'm a hockey fan first, and I have been an islander fan for over 30 years. I do know what goes on in hockey, and with every other team as I follow the sport closely, I think it's the best sport on the planet, and I think hockey players are the most down to earth athletes. How they interact with their fans is what I enjoy the most, the video of Carey price taking a selfie with a 12 year old kid during a tv timeout is priceless. Does not cost him anything to spare 10 seconds to give that kid a priceless memory. Jonathan Quick, signing an autograph for a kid when he is sitting on the bench during a game that he did not start, again another moment that will build great memories for a kid. Yes I watch the Rangers, and I have gone to ranger games as an islander fan when the islanders don't even play the Rangers, I'm not 16 years old, I can watch other teams play hockey and appreciate a well played game because I love the game.
It is, and I do appreciate what they have done, but I would be very disappointed if the slide continues and they end up getting dumped in the 1st round. I understand highs and lows, but everyone else is catching their second wind and it seems like the isles are struggling to break through that wall. Still have 10 games left, hopefully they can get some momentum going into the playoffs.
No, it was not a comment about the fan base. It was a comment about the franchise. What other POSSIBLE reason could you explain the Islanders touting themselves as "The Best Sports team in New York"... IN NOVEMBER?!?!
the boys could of easily won that game last night. they have a chance to win every night, its so great to see. 14-2-2 in the last 18, not too shabby!
November? Really? I don't remember what was said last year, I'm more concerned about the next ten games. I'll do some research though, see if an islander player actually said it, or it was just a beat writer trying to get a reaction from fans.
Islander fans are funny, in November they were Stanley Cup champions and now in March after 5 losses they're not a playoff team and the coaching staff needs to be gutted. Seriously you guys need to moderate, watch after the next 2 or 3 game win streak you'll be the April Stanley Cup Campions
I for one never anointed them Stanley cup champions in November, heck I did not even expect them to have such a good season. As far as the coching staff goes, I have never liked Capuano as a coach, even when he coached the bridgeport sound tigers. I don't care that they have highs and lows, I do care that they stay in the lows too long, that is never good for the phsyche of a team that was in first place and could not stay consistent enough to keep the points lead in their division. It's just not islander fans, all fans do it, ranger fans included. Hackettstillsucks said that after Brassard missed and open net the Rangers were done for the year. How did that turn out for the Rangers? I bet if the Rangers had been playing below .500 hockey and allowed the second and third place teams to pass them in the standings, after having a 12 point lead you would be ok with that?
I'm glad Stepan got some goals and points in...Hope he is out of the funk. 6 different goal scorers. I like it
