yeah but we're paying him to steal games like that for us. He's a funny athlete, he has to get in that zone to be most effective and no other goalie can match him when he's there. But for most of the season he's not in that zone and can be pretty ordinary

He's a defenseman who doesn't put up points and doesn't defend that well. This elite possession player stuff is nonsense. Thats not to say that he's bad, but you are just buying into the misleading metrics if you really think Stralman is anywhere near Girardi as a defenseman. There is a reason why Girardi always played a lot more minutes than Stralman while the two of them were on the Rangers, and its because Girardi's a better defenseman.
Some people look way too much into the metrics. Stralman's definitely improved his defense, but he's not transformed himself into a top-pair defenseman. He's been playing the role of one because the Lighting have poor defensive depth.
LOL. Don't dismiss facts just because you don't understand what they mean. I know it's human nature to do that, but try and be a little smarter. "Doesn't defend that well"? You don't need "misleading metrics" to know that's a garbage statement, just watching him play for the Rangers the last few years proves how absolutely ridiculous that is. This thread never disappoints. Calling out Stepan, Girardi being better than Stralman. Definitely the most unique take on the Rangers you'll find on the internet.
