And DESPITE all the holes on this team, there are people who actually want to give Staal 48M for 6 years

It was actually $36M for 6 years that Staal asked for, which is still too much.

You're absolutely right. The ORIGINAL thief, Callahan, tried for 6 years, 48 M. How did that work out?

I think Conor Allen should be brought up, Kostka and Hunwick are horrible, if they have no faith in him then make a stop gap trade till Boyle comes back, Hank has not been sharp the last 2 games but he's had no help at all

I'm still waiting for someone to say that Staal is justified in asking for 6Yrs 36M.

im still waiting for a good rangers start. last year 9 in a row on the road, this year just as alarming, maybe moreso because they're getting jackrolled at home nightly.

I'd call up McIlrath. Conor Allen had a really bad training camp.

You put too much stock In preseason...see JT Miller...Allen or Mc are better than Hunwick/Kostka...Stu Bickel is better than both of them

And why do you say this? I can't bring myself to comprehend why so many Ranger fans dislike Girardi. Staal gets a leash to the end of the world, but one mistake from Girardi and all anyone says is how much of a mistake his contract is.

The whole team is playing poorly. Why are you singling him out? He's not even been that bad. I think McDonagh is the one that most needs to start playing better of the defense. Ever since he got the C, he's been bad. I'm not yet going to say thats the reason, but not everyone is able to handle it.

I only watched parts of the game since I was being psychologically tortured by the Jets again, but I did not think any of those players besides Hank, Brass and Nash played particularly well. I saw that Staal took two penalties. How do you come to the conclusion that he played well?

Just like with JT Miller, Hayes needs to start putting up points. Its not good enough at the #3 center position to not have any points three games into the season. Between Hayes and Miller with six total games played between the two of them, they have a combined 0 points with a combined plus/minus of -7. The needed production from those two just isn't there right now. If it doesn't pick up, the Rangers might need to seriously consider trading for Eric Staal. This team can't go into the playoffs and expect to win games when at center you have Stepan, Brassard, Miller/Hayes and Moore at the position.

He has gone from a solid defender to a turnover machine, who is incapable of keeping the puck his own offensive zone when it is passed back to the point. Pay close attention to him in the game Sunday against the Sharks, and count how many turnovers he is directly responsible for.
