That line is really bad defensively. I'd rather see him with more responsible defensive players. Either way, its going to be really hard to send Duclair back to juniors after his performance against the Blackhawks. He was the best player on the ice. JT Miller had another really good game. Lindberg and Hrivik were too younger guys that had goals and played good games. Nash also looked much better.
I'm thinking maybe something like this Nash-Brassard-Zuccarello Kreider-Miller-MSL Hagelin-Hayes-Duclair Malone-Moore-Stempniak Top 6 should be obvious at this point. Should just be a matter of who plays with who. Hopefully Moore and Stempniak have spots locked up as #4C and #4RW. Hopefully Hagelin has a spot locked up as #3LW. #3C, #3RW and #4LW are the only spots really in contention. Saw a great post on HF today that said the goal of all these roster projections is for Tanner Glass to be the 13th forward and not make the lineup. I hope so as well. His contract makes him uncuttable, so best case scenario is Malone is #4LW and Glass is the 13th forward. That would open a spot as the #3RW for Duclair because I think Malone is competing for the #3RW and #4LW spot. #3C seems to be between Hayes and Lindberg at this point. Tough call who to choose.
Malone has a hip flexor, he can be moved up to almost any line, but I love him on the 4th line and PP. Duclair has mad skills and belongs in the top 6, he played well with Nash last night, the kid is nhl ready now, every other team in the nhl would keep this kid up, but the Rangers? Oscar Lingberg played well also, still like Conor Allen over J Moore...Dom Moore will be the #2 center to start the season
AV loves Glass, so don't get your hopes up...Miller has played well, but Its only 2 preseason games has to show he can sustain it when it counts which he hasn't done before, hopefully he can...how good was Cedric Desjardins last night, this system is stacked with young solid goalies
Agree about everything except for Allen/Moore and Dom Moore as the #2 center. I understand that there is a large portion of our fan base that doesn't believe in John Moore, but I really don't see how anyone could think Allen is currently the better player. Maybe he's best to put in the lineup now if you believe John Moore doesn't have much of a future with the Rangers, but Allen isn't currently the better player. Even last night he was making a ton of errors. Don't think he's ready yet. Moore's on a one year deal, so its probably a make or break year for him. Don't see Dom Moore moving up to play as the #2 center. Miller played more minutes yesterday than Moore and has really impressed so far, so I think we are looking at him playing the second most minutes after Brassard. Think Moore might play more minutes than whoever the #3C is, but I really don't think AV is going to tinker with his role if Stepan's only out 8-10 games. That 4th line needs to be good, and he's the only piece back from last year from that line. He's a constant, and the Rangers need him to be in that role.
What is there to love about Glass? There is a good argument to be made that he's the worst player in the NHL that has played a consistent role for his team the last few seasons.
Depends on whether you want Moore's raw talent and erratic play or Allen's steady, heady play, he's 25 now and he's not going to Hartford, so If JM falters CA will take over
Dom Moore took Brass's spot in the playoffs and did well, he will be the #2 center with Brass as the 1
I agree about their styles of play, but I think you are overestimating what Allen can do at the NHL level. I haven't really seen him prove anything so far. He didn't look that good last year when he played a few games and I thought he was terrible against the Blackhawks on Friday.
He played very well In the 3 games he played last year, did you watch the games? I think you underestimate him, JM has more flash, but has to steady his game
I did watch the games, and I remember him struggling. Maybe he didn't, but thats what I remember. Didn't look good on Friday also.
He's been on a line in practice with MSL and Nash. Its looking more and more like he will be the #2C to start the season. 1st line has been Kreider/Brass/Zucc, which is a line that I like. So much speed and skill on that line.
Duclair is so so so so talented. How could he not make the team? The Rangers would be doing themselves a huge disservice not to have him on the team. Haggerty is another one that I think could make the team, and I'd like to see him make it. He's played really well.
I agree the kid is a walking highlight reel, Haggerty was awesome last night too, I thought Mcilrath looks better, also...Hayes with sick hands the pass to Fast was Gretzky like
