Yeah, but you know the Garden. They NEVER give updates on injuries.

That being said: Even if it were just a bruise, I would NOT let him play in Colorado tonight!

Good bet he won't play tonight, I don't know, the fact he is still on the trip, must mean it isn't too serious, otherwise he would have flown right back to NY

Patrick Roy went with his gut. He sent defenseman Tyson Barrie would be taking his first career shootout goal – but not before Roy gave him a little suggestion.

"I was thinking something different, but Patty told me, 'If you go backhand, [top]shelf I'll be happy,'" Barrie said with a smile. The rookie had already dramatically snuck the game-tying goal between New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist's legs with under a minute remaining in the third period. Barrie didn't really have much of a choice on which shot to attempt in the shootout.

"I kind of have to try that now," he continued.

It should come as no surprise that it worked and Barrie scored to lead off the shootout – the Avalanche would eventually win. Roy admitted to giving the recommendation on shot type but gave credit to Barrie for making it happen. Whether it was a scouting report on Lundqvist or just goalie-ESP, the first year head coach knew something that Barrie didn't.

"You don't usually care what the coach says in the shootout," Barrie. continued. "But any time Patty has some advice you listen."

    Thin air didn't help anyone

In the end the Rangers lost because a ref misplaced a faceoff in our D zone

We shouldnt have lost that game, stupid goal in the third but I would say that was a great high flying game. The Avs play with so much intensity...At least we got a point and Filthadelphia lost

It's all well and good to be getting home ice in round 1, but it would be nice to secure home ice in a future round too

Right now we could only host Detroit, Columbus assuming they got by Pittsburgh / Boston. We can still catch Montreal & Tampa, so that point hurts

gotta clear the puck with under a minute left. fuck that hurt. hate letting those high altitude buzzards back in the game. I know they're playing a lot better but you have to close these kind of games out.

Awful loss against the Senators, and awful job by the refs. Neil's hit against Staal was charging, late and dirty. After that, the refs let him pummel Staal, but didn't even assess either player a penalty for fighting. Did they forget what happened? They don't remember having to pull Neil off of Staal? Somehow Staal ends up with 4 minutes for the whole thing, Neil gets 2 minutes. I'm not saying the Rangers would have come back, but to put the Rangers down a man for two minutes with that little time left considering what happened between Staal and Neil was the wrong decision. They should have given them the same penalties or given a Rangers PP, but definitely not a Senators PP. Thats complete horse shit from the refs.

Chris Neil is my favorite NHL non Ranger player, but that was a charge, the penalties should have been a wash....Richards and MSL playing with Boyle?..too many 4th liners on the ice

Bollocks was that charging or any other kind of penalty. He didn't change direction, he didn't leave his feet, he didn't raise his elbow, he didn't target the head - he finished his check on a player who was following the puck he'd just played into the zone. Staal's inability to keep his wits about him isn't punishable by a penalty to Neil; if he hadn't put his head down as he played the puck no-one would be bleating about it. I was watching it with my Leafs-supporting, Sens-hating brother-in-law last night and even he called the Neil hit clean.

Following on from that the Rangers had three instigators all trying to get into it with Neil, not to mention that little prick Zuccarello trundling in to go all Fat Phil on Wiercioch once he was sure the refs were on hand to keep him safe. Refs called the penalties pretty much right, although IMO Neil shouldn't have had to go to the box for the sin of getting jumped.

A little late into the season there ol' chap. I'm afraid your Canadian Senators are done for it
