No official confirmations (yet) but hearing NYR are prepared to trade Callahan, plus 1st rd pick and 2nd rd pick for Marty St. Louis. Close.

I have no issue with trading Callahan for St. Louis but WHY did that idiot Sather throw in TWO draft picks?!?!

giving up the draft picks is what makes this deal awful.

the Ranger lockeroom is already calling MSL "gramps".

If the Rangers get to the ECF this year the 2014 selection becomes a 1st pick, so that would be two 1st round picks for 2014 & 15. This is a little steep, I don't understand why Sather gave up the '15 pick. Hopefully MSL puts out and makes us forget these drafts

Assinine trade, if MSL was 32-34, I would do it, but he's 39 in June...Sather is a fuckin' moron...not going to win the Cup with MSL and next year he'll be 40

You can say that about 90% of players, but MSL isn't in that group. Jagr says hello

Won't have Stamkos to pad his stats like years past, he's a good, old player

    another detail:

    Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun
If Callahan re-signs in TB then NYR get TB 2nd in 2015 and TB gets Rangers 7th in 2015

Jagr is the exception to the rule. He's also light years ahead in talent compared to MSL.

Hell of a day to make a return to posting after some time off. Wow. I'm still trying to process a little bit. I've never been shy about how I feel about Cally (albeit not as much as MR) but I'm coming around on this trade. I'm sure the Rangers were thinking that they were offering Cally beyond his real value as it is, so it's hard to blame them for cutting him loose. Cally's been there for all the other overpriced contracts in the past, so you can't really blame him for being stubborn either.

Either way, the Rangers traded two picks that could be crapshoots anyway. They have a good number of young players working through their system so the two picks, even for as high as they are, shouldn't be too much of a concern. Plus you're getting a top scorer even at 38. Maybe with the top two gunning lines they have now, plus the pretty stout D, plus Hank, they feel like this can be a team to make a run.

I see what your saying 87, but they aren't good enough the Bruins would sweep them, and next year he's 40
