Rumor...Staal for Skinner...rather keep Staal, can't call him injury plagued because a puck caught him in the eye...

I've heard the Canes REALLY want Marc Staal. If they offer us Skinner and a pick I think we should take it. We can't keep all of our defensemen down the road anyways and I think Staal is damaged goods at this point. He'll never regain full sight in that eye from what I've been reading. For a defenseman thats kinda important.

Only if the pick is a 1st do I even think about it. Skinner's got a big contract and has suffered 3 concussions before his 21st birthday. He already doesn't look like the player he was a few years ago. 5'10, skates with his head down all the time... screams disaster.

Christian Thomas traded to Montreal for Danny Kristo.

This should be a good trade for us, but Thomas is the type of player that seems made for playing in Montreal. He'll probably be the next Brian Gionta for them.

im hearing Habs fans are upset over this...But on HF Boards some Rangers fans are mad too...I think Kristo apparently has the higher ceiling.

Kristo's the more rounded player. Bigger, better skater (slightly), better possession player, better playmaker, more responsible away from the puck. The only real advantage Thomas has is his shot, but it's such an elite one that that alone shrinks the gap between the two.

That, and Thomas is a very good kid with a good head on his shoulders. Kristo can be selfish with the puck on the ice. He also faced a misdemeanor charge for being at a party where alcohol was served to minors, but I think he was cleared (honestly can't remember.)

This year, probably. It'd be shocking if Kristo can't at worst become a decent bottom six player in this league. He's got some similarities to Callahan in his game, actually.

What a scumbag, he drank alcohol before he was 21, THE NERVE I SAY!

Honestly, I feel "meh" about the deal. I liked Thomas but Kristo seems to have more size. The guy I'm really excited to come up is Oscar Lindberg. Well-rounded centre that could anchor our fourth line and is a superb PK guy.
