they simply got beat, and by a dangerous team, far more dangerous than the caps were,
they are lucky to be tied, and lucky that they even had the lead tonight. don't get too down over the boys, they'll find a way this series,
i though Henrik was a studhorse tonight, as usual.
    have a good night.

6 Goals from Devils' 4th line in 2012 PO.

0 Goals from Rangers' 4th line in 2012 PO.

Also, CAN SOMEONE TEACH THEM HOW TO CLEAR THE PUCK?

its outrageous how bad we are at clearing the puck. And Boyle is one of the worst. And he didnt clear it in the 1st and took a penalty because of it....and you know what happened after that

    Alot of missed chances

McD's left to right goal line puck in the 1st
    Kreider off the post
Prust shooting high and Broduer using his leg for the save.

We need to capitalize on key faceoffs...We have to win faceoffs in the Devils zone...We have to fire shots from the blue line against the Devils and create screens for Broduer...What he doesnt see makes it easier to score

It's a problem. The question is how much is the system a factor in how offensively deficient we are, and how much is it that makeup of this team. Gaborik was decent against Washington, but he has reverted to Ottawa status. Completely disappeared (Torts benching him for majority of 3rd didn't help). Our bottom six though is so devoid of talent. Boyle is a 4th line center no matter how hard Torts tries.

Callahan has been pathetic the past 10-11 games. Love the guy to death but it's like acid in my eyes watching him.

Yeah Jon...I follow you but lets remember...this is a very very very young team. This is mostly being done by heart with some great young RAW talent. Lets see how it plays out.

Another thing...read what you and others are saying about the clearing and how bad they are. I love TORT..love him...but some of this is the style they play.

For instance...can you honestly say that the Devils have much better defenseman with the puck? At first glance the answer is yes from what we see night in and night out...but I say no...a big no. This team has 3 guys in DZ,MD and Staal who i think are great with the puck. They just spent an entire season not letting these guys being great with the puck. In fact, if memory serves me correctly, TORT sat DZ several times when he became too aggressive entering the zone.

That combined with the Devil style of bringing the kitchen sink when we gain possession is a killer combo. Either he has to let them join the play almost nonstop or we will win games with just our goaltender and lose very winnable games like tonight.

Remember the Rangers defense looked sloppy on clearing passes and they let the Devils players settle in front of Henrik much more this game...The fact that they have played so many games could be part of it...But Gaborik sucked on his effort with that 2nd goal, where he did not clear the puck out and the block attempt was non existant.

And Bickel is just pointless...Just use Eminger.

3 nights until the next game, maybe it helps...Have to hope

Nice point Poe....would not be surprised in the least to see Eminger in the lineup on Saturday...Bickel is truly useless...especially in this series. If he isnt going to use his size to clear the net, he brings nothing to the table...nothing.

Bad game, not the end of the world.

Collect our shit, have a day of complete rest, no travel at all, it will do wonders. Take the time and use it properly. I'm not stressing right now.

Those deflections by NJ were fantastic, though. That's the way you're gonna have to beat Hank right now. Hopefully we adjust.

    A couple things:

The sky isn't falling (yet). The Rangers were a little lucky to make it out of the first down 1-0. That's as flat as they've started a game all playoffs. They had a good response in the 2nd period but the late goal to tie it at 2 killed them. Would have been huge to go into the 3rd up a goal, obviously.

Kreider might be the best Ranger on the ice (skaters, obviously Hank is the best Ranger every night). Not just because of the screen, just barely deflecting Stralman's shot resulting in his goal. He had the best scoring opportunities all night. Had Marty beat low, stick side on his shot that hit the post, played the 2-on-1 perfectly and took a great shot on Marty's five hole. It's exciting to watch the kid playing well, but obviously he can't do it all. The guys making the big bucks have to find a way to contribute. (Looking at you Gaborik, Callahan)

Lundqvist didn't play poorly. Nobody in the world was stopping Kovalchuk's PPG. Not only did he rip it but that thing was so perfectly placed in the top corner of the net. Impossible to stop from that close. The deflections he had no chance on either. Clarkson's deflection would have went wide, and the Carter goal was impossible to see with two guys in between he and Lundqvist. And cheers on the glove save he made on Kovalchuk's deflection early. Incredible save.

Marty still can't stop the wrap-around. Seriously, after all these years, for as dominant as he is in all other realms of goaltending, he may be the worst goaltender I've ever seen at covering post to post. The first one had him beat only to ring off the far post, and even when was in position on the second, Prust still got it past his paddle before it trickled to a stop between his pads.

Two restful days for the team (and us). Looking forward to a little day drinking and hockey Saturday at 1!

Didn't see most of the game last night, was at citi field watching the Met bullpen blow up.....was watching a little of the Ranger game in the "clubs".

But sounds from you guys like they played with little energy. I kind of expected that, they need the 2 days off again.

the New York Rangers defensemen might as well be called "The Clones". They are six solid players who play the EXACT SAME GAME! They certainly hustle, block shots, and will give up their bodies for a loose puck, but none of them present any threat whatsoever from the blue line. If they didn't have names and numbers on the back of their jersey's, you could not tell one from another

The Rangers actually won three or four faceoffs cleanly in the offensive zone last night. When the puck reached the defenseman, it was meekly passed allong the blue lin every time. A fundamentally sound offensive player in that position would have charged that puck while it was moving, and let the slapshot go from the point, without any hesitation.

Can we please trade ONE of them for a defenseman with a real shot from the blue line? I am not one of these maniacal fans who say "They all suck! Get rid of all of them!" However, I definitely think one of them should be traded for a real point shot.

I am more than confident in Herik Lundqvist to say that this team would be better off blocking 18 shots a game with one offensive threat on the blue line versus blocking 24 shots a game and have such an obvious void.
