I agree with and like what Marty said. This is hockey, D-men are not goalies they are putting themselves in harms way. I would say keep laying out and you'll get one right between the eyes. I'm surprised he is the 1st one to come out and try to get in the NYR heads with this.
The guys at the game with me last night disagreed with me about it, but I didn't think Brodeur was as stellar as some people think he was last night. I'm not gonna say he definitely should have had the two goals, but I thought his rebound control was horrendous. Granted the Rangers didn't make him pay for it, but I didn't think he was lights out.
I think that too many times players respect the block and continue to move the puck, looking for a lane to open up. I'd have liked to have seen some of the Sens players let rip more often even when the lanes were blocked, and if it happens to be a head in the way..... well, that's the player's fault for putting it there. You can't just keep blocking shots without getting hurt or worrying that you're going to get hurt, but certain players in the Sens series stopped shooting because they didn't have perfect lanes (I'm looking at you, Spezza). If they'd fired a a few more shots and hit some inner thighs, ankles and yes, heads, maybe some of the Rangers players would have started to think twice about putting themselves in the way of the next one.
You got it backwards The rangers are in his fuckin head...by the way the Caps played the same exact style
Interesting stat Rangers blocked 26 shots last night, Devils had 36 blocks the whole playoffs before last night
Devils should never complain about Rangers style , they won 3 Cups by clogging the neutral zone with a trap and more power to them they outsmarted everyone and were happy to win 1-0
I have nothing against Brodeur, he's a HOF and has 3 Cups, but hitting somebody with a shot in the head is ignorant...
Hockey is a sport that lets 2 players have a fist fight during the game. Ignorance is the name of the game.
I know what you're saying but you don't verbalize it, tell your teammates not the press, makes him no better then the NO Saints...
I don't necessarily disagree with that, if only because the next time a Ranger takes a slapshot to the head the zebras are now going to be asking themselves whether it was deliberate. It was a pretty daft thing for a player as experienced as Brodeur to say; I suspect his thinking is that he wants the Rangers players to worry that that's what they're going to do, but I don't think that fear would materialise in a professional hockey player until rubber starts bouncing off helmets.
This kid with his mixture of size, speed and skill will duplicating this many more times over the years...
