AV has a bad habit of turtling up after we get the lead...It worked before...BUT the problem is our defense has gotten older and they are much MUCH worse then in years past.

its the same story every year, these guys are soft. all flash, and even the flash is missing right now. the 2012 rangers were not soft, i really thought they had the goods to take the cup. the 2015-16 presidents trophy rangers were soft, once the playoffs started they stopped scoring.
this bunch this year are soft yet again. its getting annoying as fuck. the window is shutting on poor henrik lundqvist who has well deserved at least 1 god damned cup. feel bad for that guy

What in God's name was AV thinking to have Derek Stepan take a crucial face-off on the defensive side of the ice, while short handed? He got beaten like an egg, and the Habs scored their first goal within ten seconds!!!

How do you have your worst face-off center take that face-off?

30 second mark of this video

Agreed, 100%. He has been my favorite goalie for almost a decade. Even with him eliminating the Caps multiple times. Haha.

If you probably ask Ovechkin...who he would take from another team as his partner in the playoffs he could very well say Henrik.

I agree 100% I also thought the 2012 team really had a great chance of winning the cup. Even when we lost to New Jersey the 2012 team played them so tough you could see in the finals when the kings went up 3-0 the devils were drained after that series against us. That team showed up to play no matter what the score was and they were not a soft team unlike this bunch. Speaking of which I remember how exciting those playoffs were and hard fought, that playoff hockey passion is completely missing from the game now.

AV is a regular season coach his teams do not perform well in the playoffs. Btw whos the genius who decided we had to give up stralman and yandle but throw huge money at girardi and staal. Hows that working out for us?

At the time, Staal was showing flashed of brilliance, and then the eye injury happened. They took a shot, and it didn't work out. I have no idea what Girardi did to warrant the money he got. I still don't understand that one.

BTW, after Lundqvist, do you know who was the highest paid Ranger this season? My good friend, Derek Stepan.

Yeah Staal has not been the same since that injury its unfortunate. Girardi was a great Ranger but he was clearly breaking down when they gave him that contract, the way he plays he wasnt going to last forever but leave it up to the rangers to throw obscene amounts of money at him.

Ive been here more than hfboards cuz some idiot prolly 13 year old says girardi deserves the money he gets because hes been a loyal ranger. If we can ship out brian leetch like hes trash then why does girardi deserve to be put on a pedestal?

I don't know about that - was Yandle really that good, or did he just look good in comparison to the trash the Rangers had on defense at the time.

I feel the same way about Smith right now, BTW.

Have to carry the play to them, attack/forecheck keep them hemmed in their own zone

And for crying out loud, if they are waiting for you on the blue line, dump the puck in and use your superior speed to chase it down!

The problem is Av doesn't know how to coach defense.

Most higher seed teams right now are struggling aside from the Penguins, very interesting
