Different era and I think different results. Todd was seen eventually as a fairly hapless fellow crippled by comparisons to a former great on the team. He managed to fight through that and salvage some credibility. Sanchez has been such a lightning rod at this point that I think his utility to the Jets has evaporated. Becoming a competent QB for stretches the way Todd did wouldn't salvage much. The bad stretches would still produce fan derision and cause problems in the locker room. It would be wise for the Jets to find a way to sever ties before Sanchez tries to do a Jets West thing again. The result of that exercise would not be fun to watch particularly as presented in the tabloid press. Team building begins with not burdening the team with unbearable burdens.
Tanking is never the answer. No smart fan would want their team to tank the season b4 the year even started
i will never understand this blind loyalty to rex ryan...some of you people act like he's bill bellichick or bill walsh...
These writers are trying to catch your eyes, its simply not true. Rex isn't even a lame duck, which is what people are calling him: lame duck would be if he was on the last year of his contract, which he is NOT. I think they are fully giving him til the end of his contract and then theyre going to make a decision on him. Hence, 12 draft picks in 2014.
So, mezz, I have a question - maybe or two or three or more. Just why would you waste your time on the piece of hot garbage that is new york post? And if that's not enough, on a piece of writing by a steaming pile of horse shit that is Steve Serby?
I use my Fear and Trembling quotient. With some Jet QBs I have this feeling every time they drop back that something will go wrong. I had that with Todd and I had it with Sanchez. Always. The sense that something will go wrong. All QBs throw INTs. The question is: are you surprised when it happens, or do you tell yourself" "I knew it!" It is not measurable. It goes to the very core of my being. I was not in love with Chad. But I felt that he would take care of the ball.
Rex went to 2 AFCCG in his first 2 seasons as HC. He is an excellent coach and it would be idiotic x 1000 to even think of getting rid of him. Best NYJ HC in decades. Hilarious that the clueless minions keep missing this fact.
I agree 100% if the Jets fire Rex that defense will take a nose dive and I'm positive the new coach wouldn't be able to use Wilkerson and Coples to their full potential. I think despite the team's record, Rex has gotten better. Now with MM he can work with a proven offense that actually makes sense. I personally don't care what Rex says to the public.
now that revis is gone, this will be the topic the hammer away at until t.c. opens. its an easy write. every move made will be construed to show rex is on the outs.its not going to matter what the facts are. jets pass on geno smith? saving the qb for the next coach jets take an ol in first round? rebuilding the core for the next coach? jets take a de/olb with the 9? well he can be flexible so he will fit in with the next coach jets take millner with the 9? rex lose great and is forced to work with rookies. they will do it with the cap space and 2014 draft picks too. jets clearing cap, hoping to entice cowher. jets looking to accumulate 2014 draft picks, look to secure qb and gruden in 2014. its all bullshit. they have no idea what idzic is thinking and the alienated themselves so they can't get interviews. all they can do is speculate and try to make it look like facts
Well U really truly have your NYJ blinders on & covered. RR contract EXPIRES after this season so since this was a supposed rebuilding year Woody made the exec decision to let RR stay this season instead of having to pay him for him to be a couch potato for this year. After this season RR will be history unless some miracle from above comes & makes us the NYJs of 1968
This is the same fucking paper that ran with the "BAG MEN" headline for the Boston bombing accusing to innocent guys. Garbage newspaper
Lol!!!! Sorry, out here in CA we have to read what we can find...even if it is from poo boy. :breakdance:
I think Rex is an excellent defensive coach but he really took advantage of Revis's ability to control half the defensive backfield. He's going to miss him. I think the Jets did the best they could. As much as Revis was a great player he seemed to hold them hostage every year.
