The money always comes into play in these decisions no doubt, but Powell really isn't making much. What I really like about Powell (other than character) is his versatility to catch passes, pass protect, and run hard between the tackles. While I like Montgomery and Cannon, neither guy is a threat between the tackles.
yeah powell was a very underrated RB and jet. but as a 3rd RB you know he isn't going to see the filed much. honestly i'd say his value as a pass protector is more important. i can't see powell doing much running between the tackles
I could see them cutting him for week 1 and then bringing him back so his entire year isn’t guaranteed to have some extra flexibility.
Bilal is older but he has low mileage compared to most 6 year NFL running backs. If Bell or Ty go down with an injury I'm much more confident with Bilal stepping into fill the role - especially when it comes to picking up blitzers and protecting Darnold.
