Irresponsible behavior but nonetheless stupid and unnecessary. If yu're too busy to clean up your own speeding/parking tickets or whatever, at least be responsible enough to have a family member handle it for you. "Dear Mom... here's a check for 5 Grand. Can you handle this traffic shit for me?"
Arrested for 2 traffic tickets? Seems a bit harsh. I don't think being a dumb, irresponsible driver should result in getting fired from your job as a running back. Still a bad optic for him and the team.
I don't think the officer who arrested him had a choice. Once McNight sped past him in the right lane and he chased him down and ran the plate, he probably doesn't have the authority to just say "Oh... you play for the Jets? In that case, have a nice day!" Getting fired from his job? Definitely not.
Dude, he was pulled over...for an Unsafe Lane change. Hanover, and East hanover cops are douchebags, that fill the public coffers, by harassing non locals, on highways like Rt.10, or exiting Rt.280. I live near there, he got pulled over for DWB. No doubt in my mind. You have a ton of people, from nearby areas travelling to Jobs, and I see them getting harassed routinely. Unsafe Lane Change? If he was a white woman, in a dodge minivan, he would not have gotten pulled over.
He got pulled over for passing on the right at a high rate of speed AND THEN doing the unsafe lane change by not signalling. The thing that got the officer's attention initially was the speeding by a patrol car at a high rate of speed in a non-passing lane! I'm sorry you live in an area that singles out black people... that's a terrible thing and I've hated seeing that for years on the NJ TNPK, for example, where it seemed very commonplace to me. But I don't know how you can definitively say that McNight was pulled over for DWB. I would like to think that he wasn't and that it was more like DWS (Driving While Stupid). Stupid enough to pass a police vehicle on the right at a high rate of speed. Either way, this is no big deal and shouldn't have any impact on KcNight's position on the team.
My prediction at rb is Powell will show everyone what he is worth with a 1,000+yards and 8+ touchdowns this season
Funny that you mention unsafe lane changes. I see police officers doing this all the time, yet they are never held accountable. I live kind of close to Hanover as well, yeah a lot of them are dicks. I don't think anything compares to Morris township cops, however. They LOVE harassing outsiders. Most of my friends live in Morristown, but I avoid township like the plague. I've been pulled over and harassed there numerous times. One time I was harassed simply for pulling over to use my cell phone (you know, the safe thing to do). I have some friends that were practically strip searched (down to their boxers and socks) in the freezing cold simply for driving down the same road twice. I don't think it's DWB, it's really DWY (young). They hate young folks there and love to make examples of them.
Im not the one that said he was. I was pointing out, that it doesnt make one smart. Ps. Hes been making half a mil, for 4 years....if he isnt a millionaire, hes got issues worse than speeding tickets.
Thats what the article parrotted. Hanover, has a rep for grabbing people on minor warrants, which basically says, they run plates surreptitiously, then pull people over. Dont take my word for it, google the officers name, then skip the McKnight articles.....
In the UK police cars all have ANPR camera's that check all licence plates for no tax, insurance, driving license, etc I sure the US cops are the same. After all he was driving with no insurance - one bad smash and he would have been in very big trouble. They wouild check for outstanding warrants, etc after the stop had been made as a matter of course.
