The Jets tried an arial attack this year. They strayed away from what gave them success: running the football.

I see that comment a lot, but I think the jets had a pretty poor 1st down average AND yards/run average in general this year, specially in the beginning.
Add to that all the stupid penalties and a qb with a 56 percent accuracy.
Pretty hard to sustain a drive on the ground or in the air.

The Jets 2011 attempt at an aerial attack was a complete joke. Whether the problem was the system, the qb, the o-line, the receiving options or any combination of those things really doesn't matter.

If you want to be a superbowl contender in today's NFL where the top QB's throw for 5000+ yards, you need to have a legit passing attack and you need to have superior athletes as receiving threats on offense. The rules demand it.

IMO, we need a coordinator who can implement such a system as well as help identify the right talent. I don't want someone with a resume similar to our current coordinator in terms of an offensive passing attack. If it turns out our QB can't execute a down field passing attack, we need to move on. I believe he can though.

The FO is not supposed calm a disgruntled fan base, they are supposed to do what's right for the franchise. Do you honestly believe fans have any clue? I bet if you were a Texan fan you would have wanted Kubiack fired years ago?

How many AFC Title games did Cowher lose before winning the Super Bowl? The Steeler fans even had a "FireCowher.com" website set up. So don't say they have to appease the fans! JUST DO THE RIGHT THING!

why would anyone on a successful team want to leave it to come to a franchise that is being portrayed as a total car crash with a pretty terrible QB situation?

Actually, I believe teams can talk to position coaches of playoff teams before the end of the playoffs if the offered position is a promotion. It may be that those coaches still in the playoffs aren't interested in becoming the Jets OC because the Jets still have an OC.

Exactly! Fire Brian, and then start interviewing. No one wants to interview for a job that may or may not be open. Our FO is a fucking joke.

Why? Because it's Tannenbaum doing what he does worst...make personnel decisions.

    The answer is below

The days of people (coaches AND players) preferring to go to the Jets over other teams are likely gone for a while. The locker room is a mess, Rex is potentially flaming out, Sanchez looks shaken and is taking flack for lack of leadership. Basically, the situation is undesirable. It was once a 'fun' circus, but now it is a suck circus.

The only likely options will be brand new personnel from college teams, or guys from bad teams, or without other choices.

    This rules

Are you out of your ,mind.....a solid running game pounding the ball at the defense will open up even a average passing attack and make it quite difficult to stop.. An no doubt the word average, would be an improvement over our poor passing attack of this year

Also because a solid running game imply's long time consuming drives, it depletes the defense later in the game. Keeps the opposing offense off the field which negates there passing attack.

The secret is being able to sustain the running game an make it a force the defense has to respect and protect against...
So saying the ground and pound is obsolete is (pardon me for saying) pretty dumb......

SF, Houston, and BAL all follow this type of strategy. All 3 teams do not have an elite QB, but you have to respect their run game creating holes everywhere else in the passing game.

Actually it does matter 'cause it was indeed a combo of EVERYTHING from what you said.

There's even PROOF that he can.

We all get that, but the rules these days favor passing. I am tired of us control the ball for a whole quarter against New England with 6 points to show for it, only for Brady to march down the field in less than two minutes for 7.

Of course you need a balance but the onus needs to be on passing and the qb in my opinion.
