To deny the fortune that went into the giants playoff run is just stupid.

The Giants "vaunted" defense succeeds only in the following scenarios:

    1) They play a bad defense: this allows them to score, forcing the other team to pass, which allows their pass rushers to pin their ears back, and covers up the fact that the rest of their D is really bad
    2) they play a team that can't run: again, when their DL don't have to worry about the run, they do what they are good at

If you are patient, and commit to the run, it slows down their pass rush, simply by having to honor it. The cowboys showed exactly that tonight. On the other side, the Giants offense looked out of sync, so they weren't able to score enough or often enough to force the Boys to play one dimensionally.

The result is an end of the year middle of the road D.

I'm talking recently. The 1990 Giants were great defensively. They still had no business getting past the 9ers or Bills. Lots of luck, but that team was better than the 07 or 11 Giants

The Giants regular season track records speaks for themselves. I'm not saying they stink...they're just ordinary with a lot of luck

Agreed. Hail Marys, fumbled punts, guys pinning the ball to their heads. Come on. Give us one break like that ever. We get Vinny's achilles and Peyton Manning.

..."ordinary with a lot of luck" is pretty easy to swallow when you chase it with a nice big glass of Super Bowl wins.

Before everyone starts shitting on the Giants, let's wait AT LEAST until our first game against the Bills.

Cowboys aren't exactly a joke of a team.

One break like that ever, you ask?
    Ok. How about Curtis Painter.

Luck is what you do with it.
    Vinny's achilles?...........please.

I believe he was discussing postseason. We get an incredibly close play ruled a fumble in the '10 title game, the Giants clearly fumble late in the '11 title game and they blow it dead but either way the Giants took advantage which is what good teams do.

Since you measure lack of success by trash talk, bold predictions, incidents, and acquiring player who has yet to see the field in a meaningful game... the only logical conclusion is that you are a troll. Good day.

Well, I have 2 criteria for success:

    1) win a championship
    2) show progress towards winning a championship

As of now, Rex has not won a championship, and IMO the team has taken huge leaps backwards in their chances of winning a SB.

So, as of right now, I don't think Rex has been successful.

That could obviously change this year. I see zero chance of them winning a SB this year, but a playoff appearance would at least show me progress towards the main goal.

Anything short of a playoff appearance, or a fluke 10-6 season that just misses the playoffs, and Rex is a failure in NY.

I am not like many Jets fans who want to beat my chest for losing back to back AFCC games. I want to beat my chest for winning a SB.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion, but obviously don't entitle other's to their opinion. I think Rex is a clown, I also think Woody is a complete clown as an owner. If in your mind that makes me less of a Jets fan, I won't lose any sleep over it. I bleed green, and have for over 30 years.

I understand many like Rex, I just don't understand why.

I completely agree with this, the Giants have won 3 SB's that they had ZERO business winning. ZERO!

That being said, to deny the Jets had good luck in Rex's first year is not being objective.

That team could have easily been 8-8 and missed the playoffs.

Instead, they got SEVERAL big breaks to go to the AFCCG.

Unfortunately, the difference is, the Giants capitalize on the good luck and win SB's, the Jets don't.

Even in Rex's second year, there was a ton of luck and good fortune.

    Last year, not so much.

haha, he took over a team that hadn't won a postseason game in 5 years, one that hadn't won 2 postseason games in a single postseason since 1982 and in nhis first 2 years won 2 playoff games each year. He holds the Jets record for most playoff wins.

he's been here just 3 years and he already has the Jets record for popstseason wins douybling the next best HC. Only a handful of times have we been legit SB contenders('68, '69, '82, '85, '98, '02) and he made us legit SB contenders for 2 of his 3 years.

No coach has more playoff wins the last 3 years, no coach has led their team to as many title games.

    Yeah, I'd call that success.

Is that win %? then it's wrong.

    we are 28-20 w/ rex 58%
    The Giants are 27-21 56%

Never mind, I see it says including playoffs.

The NFL is break here or there. 9-7 used to mean no chance to make the playoffs in todays NFL it could mean winning a division.

There is Parody in the NFL and most teams have a chance to make the playoffs. Heck, wild card teams won the superbowl the last two season. To say the Jets have zero chance of winning the superbowl have not watched football in the last five years.

Every team has big holes and little depth the teams that stay healthy win late in the season.

Haha oh man this game was great. Proves that the Giants will be back to being irrelevant this year while the Jets are the toast of the NFL and the team of NY.

We'll be contending for the Super Bowl while little brother Giants are watching the playoffs from home.

Luck has something to do with every team that wins. In every and any sport. Don't be stupid and make an argument that the Giants didn't have business winning either year, and certainly don't take this woe is me approach with the Jets. Grasping at straws and just calling the Giants "lucky pure and simple" reeks of jealousy. I'm a Jet fan for 25 years now. I want more than anything to see them win something. But please, don't be an idiot. This is why Giant fans have field days with Jet fans that argue with them.
