That it turns out Douglas wanted McDonald all along doesn't really change anything. Previously if you didn't like the pick, you would say Douglas messed up by letting the Steelers get ahead of the Jets. Now, you can say Douglas messed up by wanting McDonald over Jones. In the end, what matters is who ends up being the more valuable player. And if it is McDonald, then Douglas will be commended regardless of why we ended up taking him.
Exactly IIMeanDeanII!!! This clearly shows that all of those JD haters who claimed that he didn't know what he was doing, that taking McDonald was awful and a knee-jerk reaction because he didn't have a Plan B were and ARE wrong!
The thing to remember is that it isn't JD making a pick in the draft. It's "the Jets." They build consensus. They (JD, Saleh, Ulbrich, the OC, and the Scouts) all evaluate and rate the prospects independently without discussing, and then they come together to reach a consensus. JD does not act like a dictator. He works with the CS. So if JD is wrong about McDonald, Mayer and Broderick, it's most likely not just him, but also the CS and Scouts as well.
There could be a number of reasons, but the #1 is that if he had made that trade with the Steelers, then NE could have taken McDonald.

You are incredibly obtuse. What else is new? Joe is asking director of College scouting: "How do you have Mayer, McDonald, vs Jones?" Jon Carr responds: "1. McD. 2. Mayer. 3. Jones." I then proceed to admit that Joe had McD higher than Jones and would have picked him anyway. You response is just another example of your very low IQ.
