I have hope that Herndon can become a top 10 TE if he stays healthy, big if at this point. He really came on during the 2nd half of last season. As for Higgins, I'll gladly take a Brandon Marshall like career without the off the field baggage. He'd be a great red zone threat with his size and ability to catch contested throws. I really wanted Kamara in 2017.
I'd rather not use a draft pick this year on CB at all. There are such a good group of potential FA CBs that I think we could probably sign two and along with Poole and Austin have a good CB corps for the next 2-3 years or longer.
I agree even if we grab some stop gaps or maybes. I think offense should be the focus in the draft... I could see a 5th on either a cb or edge unless we get stupid lucky and a great prospect falls to us. I don't see it but I been wrong. I could also see using a 6th on at kicker. But yeah we need offense bad.
While Thomas isn't a "can't miss" prospect, there's no way I see him winding up at OG. He's too good, too big/strong, and has pretty quick feet. IMO at worst, he's a very good RT.
It’s not that i disagree, Im just not 100% sold on him in space. He just seems alittle stiff & slightly slow w his hands in certain instances. He gets away w it in college & this is just a projection on my part but I cant get past it with my evaluation & anoint the guy a franchise Left tackle. Im not 100% confident hes an elite pass protrctor in the NFL in 5 years. I like him as a prospect quite a bit.But more as a right tackle like you’re saying. Would i take a RT at #11?In Thomas’ case yes i would..but quite honestly i think id rather get Becton on day 2 & fill a different spot in round 1 if given a choice.
Out of curiosity, how did you feel about Brick before he got selected? Don't take that question as me doubting your player analysis. I'm wondering if you had reservations about him as a LT in the NFL.
lol actually one of my reservations was that LT was the ONLY spot he could play. But i did like him alot..much more than Thomas. I knew he had rare talent & that he’d eventually be an elite pass blocker, but i was concerned about his body type coming out & he needed alot of work w his technique as well as to bulk up considerably. I thought it’d take alittle while which i was right about..however he became a much better run blocker than i projected.
Just a wild scenario here. But what if the Bengals don't plan to take Burrows. Someone approached me with this yesterday. What if the decide to trade out... think about this Miami has 3 first, 2 second, 2 third. If Burrow goes to Miami we could easily become the worst team in division. If not Miami could also take Tua, Wills/Adams and a ton of other great picks and we could become the worst team in division..... some days I hate being a Jets fan.
Maccagnan figured because Hanson was a white receiver he'd automatically be Wes Welker. I don't think I ever even saw him in a Jets uniform. I remember ArDarius Stewart catching a tunnel screen once.
If you are a quality evaluator you know what you’re looking at & you know who your guys are. Its never gonna be perfect & No 2 evaluators are the same but the good ones stick to their guns & dont leave it up to chance. i think w Bradway/Tannenbaum/Idzik there was rarely a primary voice or consensus. I dont think it works that way whether the process is collaborative or not. Thats why the drafts have lacked cohesion. With Mac i think he Had conviction, created some level of consensus..but “his guys” for the most part just werent very good.
I like Lavert Hill a lot in the mid-rounds from Michigan. He's a little handsy and will get some penalties, but he's a physical corner for a small guy and competes for the ball. He'd be a great mid-round pick if he falls. Hopefully he runs poorly and does. @KurtTheJetsFan @J-Raw24 @101GangGreen101 thoughts on him?
I like him. The penalties he remind me of Skrine.. he is very physical but also His ballhawk skills are nice. He plays the ball in the air very will. His highlights really show some skill. I will have to watch some more tape and see his weakness etc. Maybe he gets burnt some, then of course penalties. First impression could could be a good nickel and take that problem away if we dont bring poole back.
This is the first time I've seen Michigan play this season. Their QB, Shea Patterson looks pretty good. He's poised, mobile, looks to have a pretty good arm and make good decisions. I think I heard that he's a senior. Has anyone here seen Michigan play a lot and have an opinion how he projects to the NFL? I'm thinking we might need to draft a developmental QB in the 6th round that can develop into a decent backup or possibly even be able to be traded for a higher draft picks in a couple of years.
Haven't heard of the guy outside today, hes playing pretty well out there. Also watching the Auburn Minnesota bowl game. Tyler Johnson is a pretty good wide receiver.
He is. I've watched Hill a couple times over the last couple years and he's always near the ball when it's in the air. Tyler Johnson is extremely productive and a great character guy. Every announcer has raved about him this year.
Nickel might end up being the best spot for him. He doesn't really seem to have top end speed to recover on the outside. You're right he does get burned sometimes. A late round pick is the best for Patterson. He's ok. He doesn't stare down receivers or turn the ball over a ton so that's good. But I don't think he has the arm in terms of velocity or accuracy to be anything more than what he's doing today. Run around and make some plays as a crappy backup in the NFL lol.
I think he could be a quality back up. I had more hope for him a few years back. Last year he wasn't outstanding but he was decent. This year he's been kind meh, but he doesn't turn it over a lot. I think he understands the game as well. As stated he could end up a quality backup for sure.
Thanks. As I said, I haven't seen him play before, and haven't really been able to ascertain his arm strength yet. In addition to the attributes mentioned, he seems to be a pretty good leader, to read the Ds pretty well and to be a good game manager. That's seemingly better than a lot of the backup QBs in the NFL and most of the backup QBs we've had. He may not have a strong enough arm for us, but he may be able to work in a dome team or a team that plays in the south or west coast.
. .sorry if I'm intruding, but ... . .Quick-feet, breaks well on the ball.....although just got burned badly by Jeudy (on now in the Citrus Bowl). Undersized yet physical CB who plays bigger (with Wash Husky CB pedigree to boot)? Myles Bryant. Guy reminds me of Steve Smith Jr. as a CB. .
