it honestly depends on what you want. Higgins isn't a burner...he could stand to bulk up a bit more but if you think he can polish his routes off, his large radius would serve well. Plus I'd be curious as to what he runs too...he's shown a bit more speed this year.
I think him paired with Robbie and Crowder give us one of the best WR groups in the league. If we could trade back a little get another second and maybe 3rd/4th. Spend those on LT, Center, Edge and a corner. Use our 4th on AJ Dillon. Then grab more Oline, Corner help and a speedy rb in free agency. We become a contender
Higgins reminds me a lot of AJ Green. He's a little bit faster and not nearly the route runner Green was out of college but he has that great body control and field awareness and of course hands that Green had. Skinnier frame, but strong at the catch point. The only thing that worries me is literally how wide open he was a lot of the time vs. the awful ACC secondaries. Part of that is skill but he's caught a lot of easy balls in his career.
Anybody get a load of Sewo Olonilua RB out of TCU? Holy smokes batman 6”3 240 4.47 w better feet than Ronnie Brown & smoother than Eddie George. Hes also got great hands & can split out wide. w the plethora of other needs unless we trade Bell & perhaps Adams, giving us multiple day 1 & 2s i cant see a scenario where he’d make sense but he could be special & surely a matchup nightmare.
I'm not impressed at all with this Austin Jackson from USC. He's got decent recovery techniques but AJ Epenesa is beating him around the corner nearly every time and is an absolute handful. Jackson reminds me a lot of how Edoga looked. Slow off the ball. Not nearly as athletic as advertised.
Wirfs looks good tonight. Moves well, big and strong. Sound technique. He may be the pick if we're drafting between 11-15.
Personally, I want us getting of the three big WRs (Lamb, Jeudy, Higgins). I rather address the OL through FA since there aren't many WRs worth giving money too.
Not a lot of quality lineman out there in FA and this is a deep wr class. Throw some money at Conklin and AJ Green in FA, draft Wirfs in the first and look to grab another receiver in the 2nd round.
From what I've been hearing/reading don't the majority of the tackles project as Guards/RT over being a sure thing at LT? Conklin, Scherff and 2 OL being drafted in the top 3 rounds and I'm good.
Thomas, Wirfs are the top 2 tackles. Then you have Jedrick Wills as well. 2nd round Trey Adams who has major health concerns but is a behemoth. Definitely grab a receiver in this draft. Looking forward to seeing Lamb against a tough LSU secondary today at 4pm EST. I want to see Lamb dominate against man coverage.
There are a lot more lineman than receivers in free agency. With that being said, I'm fully in on Wirfs after watching last night's game. Even if he ends up projecting better to a guard he is a dominant offensive lineman who moves defenders out of the way. Athletic as hell in the run game too. His push is excellent. It might line up to be OL-WR-OL in terms of how the drafting goes. Becton and the big tackle from Auburn might get looks in the second from us if we go wide receiver first. Interested to see how Wanogho looks for Auburn.
Absolutely there are more lineman. However for the draft the receiving depth is very deep with a lot of sleepers. Can find a starter in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Lineman IMO is top heavy in the draft. Gotta adjust draft priorities accordingly. I think Wirfs can play both tackle spots, he played LT some this year and wasn't that bad. We need to really invest in offensive line, more than anything else. I want to Jets to push for AJ Green, grab another receiver in the draft and we are set with skill position players. Some more receiver depth will help.
I would be in on Green but I'm not sure he'll be in on coming here. He only has a couple years left realistically, so I'd imagine he'd be more in line to wanting to go to Seattle, San Francisco, New Orleans, Green Bay, Baltimore, etc. Maybe Chicago if Dalton goes as they're both very good friends. He'll also fetch a nice contract IMO since it's really Cooper, him, Funchess (whose meh) and then aging veterans or unknowns. I agree though. There are a LOT of good receivers in the second and third. Just like 2014. Some I like, some I don't. Big fan of Michael Pittman, Henry Ruggs, Devonta Smith, and I'm watching Chase Claypool right now who reminds me a lot of a less talented Mike Evans. Same frame though. I think we need a big bodied receiver badly. 50/50 guy and tough catch machine.
It sucks that we really need to go offense because there are a couple edge rushers that are going to be really good NFL players. And the kicker is that they're complete three down players. Epenesa dominated yesterday's game directly against Austin Jackson, and Yetur Gross-Matos is having a good game today too against a decent Memphis line.
He's living up to the billing so far. Guy's unstoppable. The best WR in this class IMO. Future All Pro. Stacked WR class.
