You never know if somebody is capable of or willing to change. That's why current behavior is the most reliable indicator of future behavior. Do some people change for the better? Sure. But some change for the worse also (see Pacman Jones as an example) and so the bar should be set at what you can observe at the moment.

Now if Mcfadden wanted to make a public statement about his intentions to be a more responsible citizen, well that's something you can observe and add favorably to the record. If he just keeps dogging around that's probably an indicator that he cannot handle the pressures he's about to come under as a highly scrutinized pro player and then the risk is substantial that you blow the pick if you use it on him.

    That's just life.

McFadden is going to be the next Tomlinson....they have the same exact style of running. Check out this video of Tomlinson and tell me that isn't exactly how Mcfadden plays.

I don't really care much about the kids, people have their personal lives and unless the FO thinks it's an issue I don't, but I find it funny anyway.

Exactly. It's his life...let him do what he wants. If he comes to the Jets and tears it up and helps this team win a lot of games, no one is going to give a shit about how many kids he's got running around his mansion.

McFadden reminds me more of Marshall Faulk, relying more on his speed and elusiveness.

McFadden, Jones and Washington, sounds like quite the trio.

Those 3 could hopefully work sort of like the Chargers used to (LT, Turner and Sproles) but with more playing time for Jones and Washington than what Turner and Sproles got.

McFadden would make me one of the happiest persons ever.

Getting the BEST player in the draft at #6? Come on!

Is that it? Ok so the kid can't keep his dick in his pants. Does that mean he can't be a game breaking threat?

This team needs playmakers, primarily on offense. The way the Jets look now there's no reason why this team can't be at least an 8-8 team for the next few years. That means that they won't have the opportunity to draft a RB with McFadden's skills in the near future. If someone with his skills falls to the Jets with the 6th pick, they have to take him. It's just that simple.

A poster just said it good somewhere- big time backs are easy to find and theres about 6 or 7 potential big time backs in this draft alone- premier pass rushing outside linebackers are another story. Gholston offers a rare and valuable skill set and fills a team need as opposed to McF who is more of a luxury.

Just look at this season with the Giants- They released Ryan Grant who went to the Packers and signed Ahmad Bradshaw off of practice squad and he played at a real high level.

I don't think there's much chance that both McFadden and Gholston are there when the Jets pick at 6, so it's really not a matter of picking one over the other.

I think it's more of a question as to whether the Jets should trade down, with the most obvious scenario being for the Cowboys 2 first rd picks. While it's an interesting, and legitimate discussion, I think it's a no brainer that you take whichever player falls to them because you have needs for both an outside speed rusher and a game breaking offensive threat.

They may not want to pay for a number 6, particuarly since the talent differential (NFL-wise, not combine-wise) is not that great through the first fifteen picks.

Except McFadden's legs are about as thick as Tomlinsons arms....

also, there are a lot of good backs this year. we can take somebody like mike hart in the third round (we'd have to trade up) and groom him as a replacement to jones. heck, there might be a few rb's that drop to the 4th round. not too many teams are looking for rb, so we should get good value.

It's gonna be GHOLSTON without a doubt in my mind who we draft. We so need that playmaker on defence. I miss Abraham's speed off the edge

Hey if anything, having 4 kids will force the guy to run even harder than the rest of the available RB's. Those kids need stuff, alot of stuff, sneakers, PS3's, etc- alot of stuff costs alot of money.

Not to mention the fact that you've of course got to keep the "Baby Mamma's" happy.

  19. W/ his injury history, his crumby combine, and lack of top end speed...suggesting Hart as an alternative to DMAC? Not so much..

Yes there are alot of good RB's in this draft...DMAC is just the best one..and could be the BPA at #6...w/ very little trade options. Taking him would be FAR from the worst thing in the world.

Exactly. I still see Oakland taking him. Justin Fargas is injury prone, LaMont Jordan has done nothing, Dominic Rhodes has done nothing, and Michael Bush is a wild-card but remains to be seen.

With all of that, you know Al Davis wants the Sexy Position again. He can have a future, not that he'll be around to see it, of JaMarcus Russell and Darren McFadden on offense. Not too bad.

If he's there at 6, he has to be the selection. The Jets were rumored to trade up for Reggie Bush correct? Now we could possibly get a better RUNNING BACK than Bush at #6.

    Please take McFadden.
