Assuming the Jets sign Taylor, I would STILL not be surprised to see them draft a pass rusher, for the reasons KB mentioned. Age is a factor.

You kind of made my point. Those two WR's will be looking at their big paydays because they are in their prime and after witnessing the way the jets let Thomas Jones go this year to save $, I would not be surprised if they hedge their bets that they may be able to only afford one of them.

Not that I think they will do it but I would not be surprised if they do.

build the trenches on both sides.

Faneca/Woody are on their way out and we have Brick and Mangold needing extensions or re-signs soon. Douglass is gone and Ellis isnt eternal. Jenks has about 3-4 yrs left and thats if he comes back from the ACL well. (i think he will)

As good as Devito, Pouha, and Green filled in. Pouha still has to prove more to me. Devito is a overall B grade player whos stout in the run. someone u try to keep on the team forever in rotation. Green is gone.

Ropati Pitouitua is a great project to groom and I wanted to see more of him last year.

other options would be LB/S. and CB if someone falls.

we have depth issues all over but the front seven and the OL need to be addressed unless a steal at another position presented itself.

but after robbing the Steelers I dont feel I can predict or get a pulse on anything come draft day lol.

I am all for trading up - trading up to 3rd after giving all of the 4/6/7 picks. OLB/NT/DE or OLB/DE/OL will make my day. (and I have stopped caring for the 4/5/6/7 round picks that just might pan out - they rarely have, not just for us but in general.)

We'll leave the draft with Eric Berry, Taylor Mays, Earl Thomas or Nate Allen.

A trade up for Berry would be epic.

    I'll pass on this guy.

  10. Of all the players in this draft, I think Berry fits the Jets better than anyone. Smart, stout, physical and always around the ball. I could see Rex falling in love w/ him..and no doubt he'd be one of the D's final pieces.

W/ that said, I'd much rather load up the depth on both lines than give up 3/4's of our draft for a 1st round safety.

I think we trade up for Earl Thomas, Odrick, or some other playmaker who can help right away. Developing players, stockpiling picks and amassing depth is not part of the win now mentality.

Only if they remember how well Scott Frost worked out for us.

I completely agree. Pass Rush is the need. Do what is needed to address that. Then build OL depth. Ducasse should be available in the 2d and would be a perfect depth OL pick.

Draft Day trade for Berry. Jets trade this years first, second, fourth and Leon to Seattle to take Eric Berry.

Just checked the value chart on that-- man it's tough getting into the top 10. They would have to value Leon as a late first rounder for the value chart to work. I think the only way to get Berry is if he slides out of the top 10. It's just too much to give up.

I'd hope he'd at least be awake on draft day.

BINGO! For all this stuff with signing skill players, dominant teams have their foundation as their OL and DL.
