Kyle Wilson to safety? anybody think this would be a good move? I always thought he would be better suited to play safety. either we do this, or maybe sign Woodson to a vet minimum after the draft? who knows.
Nope, Wilson is a nickel Lifer! Too small for a safety but anything is possible in Rex's scheme. I'm just waiting for his contract to be up...
I totally disagree. He looks like a glaring weakness to me. The image of him getting beat twice, 10 seconds into the Seattle game is burned into my brain. It's like a commercial for his career up to this point. The entire time he's been here, I can't think of a single game-changing play he's made. The Jets had the 3rd fewest passes thrown against them in the entire league last year ... if that wasn't the case, I think we would have seen Wilson getting toasted time and time again.
As I have posted many times...I guess Rex is not reading my post....lol. Wilsons best position is Free Safety.
He's not a glaring weakness...He is just terrible as a CB in the Pro ranks. Yes he has improved, but he still is a completion or pass interference penalty just waiting to happen. .....Please start him at FS for the next 6 years. He's much better at that position.
I'm not even sure that is true anymore. Wilson has not impressed me as a nickel corner. If the Jets find some JAG FA with short game skills, Wilson could end up being relegated to dime duties.
Wilson won't move anywhere, if anything either he or Milliner will play the Nickel role, depending on who beats out who in training camp.
We have Trufant and Lankster who weren't bad in nickel. I actually remember Trufant did an amazing job on Welker right before getting injured I'm for trying Wilson in the FS position during camp and seeing if there's potential there. I think he's a lot better when he can keep his eyes on the QB because he got turned around a lot when getting burned by some of these wideouts.
