For me, the hype won't die down until after Sunday.

I think we have a pretty damned good shot at the upset if the Jets play like they did last night.

This reminds me of Erik McMillan, everyone loved him at first and he seemed to be the real deal and then he hit a bump in the road that seemed to last the rest of his career.

I think Lowery needs experience and coaching and a lot of it, but he like McMillan can go either way, there is no way you can call him a stud or a dud at this point.

Good post, but if teh Ghost ends up being a total bust, it is going to hurt us badly. Teams always pay a heavy cost for mis-picking in the top five in the draft.

Wow, but remember we played not to lose and let a lot of underneath stuff get completed last night. Bob Sutton did not coach well last night. He let Cassell have his way with us - inexcusable.

How is it inexcusable if we won?

Thats like I saying "this chick let me have my way with her last night. She let me see her boobs."

I only find it scary if your team gets their asses handed to them.

Then again, you expected this to be an easy win, so why am I even bothering?

Before saying anything negative, I'll just qualify this by saying that that was an awesome win and hugely important to the rest of the season. Kudos to all the players regardless of some mistakes here and there - they came to play.

That being said, I agree with Ouchy on the way this game was coached - what the hell happened to the defensive playcalling in the second half??? Can someone help me out here and tell me if we brought even a single blitz the entire second half - hmmmm.... okay, maybe I remember one? I realize that Bellychick is great at making adjustments at the half to take advantage of what his oppenents are doing, but reverting to a let's-just-try-to-hang-on-to-the-lead defensive posture nearly killed us again. Why oh why can they not at least mix it up a little bit? It looked like they were playing prevent for the whole second half and Cassell had an incredible amount of time to throw almost every time he dropped back - sometimes absurdly long. This was a great win for us, but until this coaching staff can find the balls to continue to bring the heat when we have the upper hand we are going to keep having this problem of losing momentum in the second half of games - c'mon Mangini! Go for the fuckin jugular!

Ok. Now that I got that out of my system... I'm still glowing from that win last night. Fuck Yeah!!!! First place baby!!!! Bring on Tennessee!!!!

For everyone questioning the use of the prevent on that final drive... have you thought to yourself just once, that if it hadn't been for an amazing throw and a very close and unbelievable catch, that it would have WORKED? The prevent has it's uses, but they just have too much talent at WR to let it work well.

On your Dwight Lowery point...yes, he was getting burned most of the first half. HOWEVER, he was in single coverage on a solid WR. He never had any safety help. When Ty Law went single coverage on Gaffney, he also got burned.

I really don't know if any CB in the league could have covered Gaffney last night. The threat of Welker and Moss was almost overwhelming. In fact, I think we came out of that whole WR-Secondary matchup better than expected.

Perhaps I mispoke. What I'm saying is our entire secondary had its hands full last night. I really think we came out of it pretty well considering the quality of their receivers and the threats from Moss and Welker in particular. Covering Gaffney was twice as difficult with the other two WRs to worry about.

I don't agree that it was just that last drive - they played a tentative defense the entire second half. Thank god we pulled it off but it was no thanks to the way the defense was being called.

I agree with everything except 10. I think a lot of questions have been answered; especially over the last 2 games.

Mangini turns into Dan Ackroyd, when he meets the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man in Ghost Busters I, anytime he goes against Bellichick.

Law's role is being underestimated. Guy played great considering he just came in a couple of days ago. He can still play, definitely, gonna be a big time pickup !!!
