He had an excellent 2007 season(until he threw away a SB chance in the title game) but other than that he has really not been that good this decade. he's played in a weak div and conf which has helped him win alot more than he would have in a more competitive division and that also helped his #s make him look better than he was.
:raiders: No matter, we were never going to win a Championship with him at QB, ever. And, last season might have been our best season with him had he continued to stay; yes, he is that bad (at his current age and lack of physical training).
I'm glad he was Jet, and I'm glad he's calling it quits. Now I can wear the jersey again without shame or anger. Anyone who thinks last year would have been more entertaining without Favre is impossible to please.
Personally, I was not that thrilled when they brought Brett in, I thought Kellen had earned his shot. Yet, you are correct he did make last year a lot of fun and even brought me around... Yet, here was my big issue with Farve,he knew damn well that his arm could not make the throws his brain was seeing, in the later part of the season. I don't know if it was ego, bullheadness, pride or what, but after he hurt his shoulder he should have let Kellen come in to give us a chance to win a few of those last games With all the turn overs some of them so bad it turned over my stomach, he burned out our defense in a few of those games. I was really pretty burned out by him by the end of last season and feel all in all it was just a lost season. Then when all the Vikings BS started and once again we had the Brett watch, I was totally done... An my money is still on him coming back at some point this season so for Brett I have just one last YAWN, I AM SO OVER THIS GUY.......
I quit caring what Favre did back in feb when he retired. He's going into the hall as a packer, he didn't get us to playoffs. Besides those its a non issue for me.
I was skeptical about Favre's extended exit from the league before we brought him in here last year. He's been doing this shit since the 2005 season ended. I could understand a guy needing time to mull it over and so forth. But what he did was a selfish, personal hijacking of teams and franchises that was wrong on so many levels. The fact that it dragged on for some 4 years tells me that he had plenty of time to come to a final decision and that a lot of these selfish acts over the last few years were completely premeditated on his part. I'll still view him as one of the 10 greatest QB's of all-time. Yet the way he left the game is going to make me view him in a more negative light.
The only reason I've cared at all about Brett Favre in the past 12 years or so is because the Jets brought him here last year. Anything else he does that doesn't affect our wins and losses makes no difference to me. And still I'm sure I will be updated to the minute about him.
I don't think it really matters much if Favre retires with the Jets being the last team he played for. His legacy was as a Packer. In 5 years, the average football fan will have completely forgotten that Favre played one season in New York. The Jets are to Brett Favre what the Arizona Cardinals are to Emmit Smith... although probably even less so. Unfortunately even though #4 had a winning season in NY, I don't think that season will be remembered fondly solely because of his breakdown at the end of the season.
True. Years from now the shot of Favre in the Jet uniform will be part of the montage including Unitas as a charger, Joe as a Ram (hurl!), Montana as a Chief, etc. I'm probably missing a couple but you get the idea.
First, the fat lady hasn't sung yet....it ain't over....Favre hates camp. Second, Favre will not retire a Jet......are you kidding? He'll sign a 1 day contract or something and retire a Packer as he should.
After the Titans win and a 5 game winning streak and an 8-3 record, all was great in Favre and Jets land. Then..........well.............. you know. Also, I think the point in the original post is that Favre's final season was with the Jets, not that he is technically retiring as a Jet. In the history books it will look better that he was a Packer, then had 1 year in New York. Rather than He was a Packer, made a terrible pitstop in New York and finished strong in Minnesota! haha. I still think he ends up a Viking though. Went through too much not to.
I don't think anyone here or in the world for that matter, thinks he's going into the Hall as a Jet. The fact that he played his last game in the NFL...maybe, as a Jet...is what I meant by "ending it as a Jet." And I will still wear my Jets jersey when he goes into the Hall.
