That’s just about a fair price. Jags have a lot of draft capital and similar roster needs. They could be quite annoying come Draft time.
Sorry just saw a tweet from Schafter where he was on about the 5th and never mentioned the 2nd, will up date original post now
Good move for the Vikings. The right team made the move for him. They don't have a ton of time left in their SB window and this is a move to try to push them over as Everson Griffen aged out and left. They should give Dalvin Cook a three year extension and keep him happy and go for it.
The jets should have been a team THIS year to make big trades while Sam is on a cheap contract - but ya know. They don’t do things the right way
Dont worry, we are going to be rolling with a quarterback on his rookie deal for at least the next six years. We’ve failed Darnold so badly that I think it’s more likely than not he doesn’t get a second deal at this point.
We should've drafted Ed Reed in 02' and maybe we could've stopped a third down against the Steelers in 2004. That's why the should've could've game is a sad one to play as a Jets fan.
Another young Edge goes somewhere else despite plenty of trade ammo & cap space. just keep kicking the can down the road Jets..
We should've taken Josh Allen in 2019. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I bet he has a better career than Quinnen.
Agreed, if we have another poor season and Darnold looks the same, the jets should consider drafting a new QB. Maybe Darnold would have been above average or even great if the jets gave him a better cast, but what's done is done. Trevor Lawrence and Trey Lance have very high ceilings and our qb would be just starting a rookie deal.
The whole rookie contract thing is helpful but not as all important as the media makes it seem. You just need to be wise and draft well. Giving up on Darnold because his rookie deal is ending is a terrible idea. If he’s bad he’s bad, that’s different. But if he plays well enough to warrant a second contract, you do it.
I think if we were able to negotiate a contract with him we would of made this trade. The good will on this trade to negotiate at the end of this season probably took us out of the running. Sent from my SM-G610Y using Tapatalk
Yeah like I said im talking about if he's not showing signs of improvement, we have a high pick, and a chance at a higher ceiling rookie QB.
That problem should take care of itself. The roster (and coach, cough cough) are bad enough that if Darnold doesn't improve significantly, we'll be drafting in the top 10 if not the top 5, which means we'll be in line to get Lawrence, Fields, Lance, or a surprise top prospect.
The one thing ill say to the idea of drafting Lawrence & moving on from Sam is we’d be able to trade him for a nice return & theoretically use all the ammo to build an entire offense around the new guy for them all to develop together. My fears w Sam are A.Will he even wanna re-sign? B.Has he already been ruined OR lost confidence in this organization?
